  1. OSs & Apps on Why (Most) Software is so Bad · · Score: -1

take a look at all the Linux distros, Slackware & Debian take forever to get a distro out the door, Debian-Potato is the the only one Officially released, My computer does not run XFree86-3.x.x and Kernel Version 2.2.xx does not run well on it either, my computer is just too new for that older distro, Slackware-8 runs great on it because it uses XFree86-4.x.x & a choice of either a 2.2.x kernel or a 2.4.x kernel (I Choose 2.4.x). if Debian ever OFFICIALLY releases Woody i will send em a bunch of money for it on CD-r (i guess those Debian developers like to tinker with it too much) and when it is released it will run great!!! on the other hand you have companies like Mandrake & SuSe that shove releases out the door every 6 months whether it is *really ready or not (bugs & all) i tried both and had nothing but grief from both Mandrake & SuSe,.,. Redhat is pretty good- i can live with it as a quick & easy distro to slam in a computer and be able to use with little or no trouble at all, it runs decently and stable enough... now Windoze is completely a different can of worms because the last one i bought was Win98se back in 1999, it was ok- but nothing to write home about, when my brother bought WinME i looked at it and I seen it BSOD a hell of a lot and WinME did not show me anything worth upgrading to, i can not say much for WinXP and i never will since i found my Zen in computing with Linux, Happy-Trails :)
