I have just finished playing Far Cry on my aging box that has a 32 meg GEFORCE 2 GTS in it and it ran fine at 1024 x 768, sure the settings were on low, but it still looked good, especially considering that the minimum requirement for the game is a 64 meg 'direct x 9 compatible' card.

I'm sure that doom 3 is a little more advanced than far cry, but who know's I'll try it out. Besides, isn't the Geforce 4 mx just a geforce 2 anyway? I'm sure a ti4800 will be just fine.

Unfortunately you grew up, and Nintendo didn't age with you, so you went to Sony who caters to your age bracket) Nintendo is just more focused on the one demographic they know best.

Incredible games my ass, what incredible games, all anyone has seen for both consoles is just demos, and at least Nintendo's were playable. Nevermind what the battery life will most likely be for the PSP. Who knows maybe Sony will pull something out of their ass and the PSP will have great battery life, but not likely. 4. Why make Apple a Microsoft? on A Six-Step Plan for Apple · · Score: 1

Apart from patenting their sustaining marketshare I think this post sums it up nicely.

Apple is doing just fine at ~4% marketshare. So what, they're happy, their users are happy, what's the big deal. Why push them to be another Microsoft and keep growing their market share. Just image if it works, in 20 year time we'll be switching to Microsoft so that we have a non-mainstream os that is more secure by virtue of it having only ~4% market share. I think I would choke on my own vomit if I ever found my self saying something like that, so why push for it.

Sure everyone complains about apple only having ~4% market-share but it seems most of these people are writing their opinions from a Windowze PC anyway. You know you like OS X or the fancy design, so don't be a cheap ass and spend the money. If you buy a top end PC it will cost you the same bloody amount anyway.

    Here is what I remember...

Yeah intel has the feature and it works. I don't know if amd had the exact same feature built in to the chip, but just about all amd motherboards have overheating protection built built it. I think tom's hardware had a video of what happens, and it went something like this...

The 'test' was just to take the heatsink right off, not just shutting the fan off. This is a biggie. The Intel processor throttled down when it started getting hot. The amd chip blew out because the sudden chage in temperature was too much for the motherboard sensor to deal with. Had the fan been just stopped and the heatsink left on the chip, I am quite sure that the motherboard would be able to control the heat, or shut the system down.

I have an Athlon XP box right now, and I can set this up in both the bios and in Windows with the proper program. So it's not really built in on the cpu, but it should still protect the chip if the fan fails. Maybe the Ahlon64/Opterons have the same thing as Intel now as they support the clock adjustment depending on load
