    Amusingly, in GoboLinux you can nuke a program with a single rm -rf since everything is under the /Programs entry, while in other distros you must rely on the package manager (or essentially manage packages by hand yourself).

    You are merely being compensated for your expenditure of time and energy, not gouging someone.

    I see your point (and I agree with Sloppy's point above) but, to nitpick, compensation of time and energy is gross profit (which even not-for-profit companies have to have, in order to remain operational, unless they're funded by a third party). The grandparent post was explicitly talking about net profit, which is what remains after all costs are compensated.

    How did people mod this down as troll? The parent expressed a valid opinion. It may be diametrically opposed to your core values, or even the core values your country is based on, but it's a valid, clearly-stated opinion. Don't use "Troll" as a synonym for "Disagree".

    You can. I don't remember the specifics, but IIRC if over 50% of voters vote "blank" (or invalid number, which we call "null vote") the elections are recalled and are rescheduled with different candidates.

    That tag caught my attention: "thievesandliars"... is that:

    a) a common English expression?
    b) a reference to the Ministry song?
    c) a reference to something else, which Ministry referenced?

    Google did not give much info (a bunch of references to bands, movies and books with that name, but all of them more recent than the Ministry song from the late 1980s).

    Interesting to see the big players noticing the possibilities in the lower end markets. In the so-called third world we often get expensive products that were designed for rich markets that don't even fit our needs (eg, videogames with network support when the actual services are not offered in our country). Hopefully we'll see more companies designing different products for different economic realities, instead of just dumping 5-year old designs here once they get "cheap enough for the third world".
