I ended up doing something like that. I couldn't get the assignment working. So I had to play the rules game and change the program. The biggest rule being:
Out of 100 points -50 for a program that doesn't compile.
I removed the central function. The program did nothing, but it compiled with no errors. Got 75 points instead of 25.
Actually, anyone can do this. It's called a citizens arrest. The police aren't some sort of super-citizen. They are simply citizens that have the full time job of law-enforcement.
What's this "Employeer" thing I keep hearing about. The one and only time I've gotten a salary was when I was in the military. Everything else has been "Per hour permanant temp" since then.
Apple's image involves a limited selection of high priced items.
The PC world has a lot of junk, but at least it's cheap junk.
Heh, I suppose people are interested in the pain and suffering of others. It would sell pretty well.
And I shouldn't be working there for long, turned in the paperwork for a real job. Hopefully, it won't suck. Ah well. More pain and suffering, I guess I should be writing this down.
GEez, more of you guys need to work in retail before saying stuff like this.
UL approval just makes sure it's safe. It doesn't mean that the unit won't overheat and die.
As to WHY they need to put such an LED on the device, the answer is simple. Consumers.
I'm sure that the built-in cooling is fine in a well ventilated area. But then you get people who will cram the device in a small glass case, sandwiched between other heat-producing devices.
I wouldn't be surprised if the machine keeps track of how often it is operating in the "Red" zone.
DVDs had compression artifact problems in the early days also. That was taken care of. I have faith that this won't be a problem in HDTV in next few years.
1. For the US market to adjust fully, there's going to have to be a real estate market crash.
2. Companies may be saving a lot by outsourcing to India, but it's not going to stay that way. After all, once the business is in place, and they become experenced, what do they need the US companies for? They will cut out the middle-man and sell direct to consumers.
Originally, they would replace the battery for $250, on a $400 ipod.
Analogy continued: You're a power user sir, we hav a service where we will replace the engine in your $30,000 car for $20,000.
It doesn't matter how long you use the car, paying that much for the engine is crazy. And the only reason they reduced the price to $99 was public outcry.
It's hard to feel sorry for iPod users though. The units are seriously overpriced and are selling very well. The local CompUSA is sold out of all models.
It's from APPLE. Selling pricy hardware is what they DO. It's not even amusing when you see the culture shock of PC users complaining about how Apple runs it's business. It has always been like this! This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone with an internet connection!
"It's tension. They're completely surrounded and about to die, then suddenly, all the Orcs run away, signalling something MUCH more evil and powerful approaching that even they fear. It's just some nice tension to give the appearance of the Balrog more impact. You find it "cheesy" because you're a book purist."
Tension?! Something huge and evil and powerful is coming your way. Don't get between it and it's goal. In fact, don't even be in eyesight. You are nothing to it.
Running is a great way to stay alive. I'm amazed the poster you are responding to hadn't picked up on that.
Excel project management software? That's news to me.

I still hate college.
Actually, anyone can do this. It's called a citizens arrest. The police aren't some sort of super-citizen. They are simply citizens that have the full time job of law-enforcement.
Considering they're both dead, I would say that they have many, many peers now.
What's this "Employeer" thing I keep hearing about. The one and only time I've gotten a salary was when I was in the military. Everything else has been "Per hour permanant temp" since then.
Yeah, I love the enviroments that create and encourage "Wash out" classes.
Unlike community colleges, who want you to learn and graduate.
Wow, I've heard that story a million times during the tech boom.
Good luck.
How can you say that the econmy tanked in 2003, using tax recipts, when tax day is still months away?
Maxtor makes external hard drives that do that.

An affordable product from Apple that's useful? There is no such beast.
Everything is available except for the SD memory slot. It took me 1 minute of googling to find my first PDA/phone/Mp3 player.
Stop being so picky.

You linked to Apple to support you claim?!
And I work at CompUSA. We actually have to lug these "Problem free" computers beck to storage when they break.
Two things that aren't really addressed here.

3. What's with the DOW? It's 10k + again.

Why don't you just support it?
Where did you think the Western cultures started from?
All cultures start at the same point. "People who never have a full stomach and can't read have a hard time even grasping the concept of innovation."

Ah yes. Unused to natural breasts, millions of Americans go into shock when subjected to "Bouncing".
We'll probably never see any more of this sort of thing coming from Japan's entertainment industry.
Actually, cable theft isn't illegal, they're broadcasting the signals into your home, it's perfectly legal for you to decode them.
And what would the rest of the world want in such a situation?
They would attempt to claim all of antartica in about 5 seconds. Even if they don't have any way of getting there.
What do you think the whole UN meeting on the Internet was about? "Here's a new resource, how can we exploit it?"
When I was in the UK, I heard on the radio that only 10% of that tax actually went to the roads.
They tax you to prevent people from buying cars.
And CompUSA will sell you a 2 year replacement plan.
