    How about the C-130 gunship?

    I almost snagged of the empty casings from the artillery it carries (This is not hyperbole, it literally carries a artillery cannon.), but the sucker was three feet high, no room for it in my luggage.

    I saw a video from one of their missions. The plane laid waste to a terrorist holdout and runners, but left the mosque that was in the middle of things, untouched.

    It only takes extensive training because they've cornered the market on those skills and made it illegal to practice without that training.

    Imagine medical training that focuses on a more narrow range of knowlege.

    Or tell people who to write one.

    Yes, and though it's not Silicon Valley, it's still freakin expensive in that area. My sister rented an apartment in downtown Chicago for less than a decent apartment costs here.

    Oh give me a break. In your "Glowing Tree" example it would be very easy to contain. It's a freaking TREE.

    If there was a huge "Glowing tree" problem it would take less than a month to cut down the offending trees.

    Nope. The AF doesn't train it's people in basic combat.

    Why would they do that? The vast majority of their people work far away from any conflict. Usually with some natural barrier in the way. (Mountains, an ocean...)

    Gold: 1980: 1000$
    2003: 388$
    1980 was a fluke. But if you go here, http://www.engelhard.com/eibprices/DPCharts.aspx

    you can look up the average price for gold over the past 5 years. 298$. From what I've heard, it takes a price of 300$ just to break even on gold mining. Translation, gold is barely worth the cost of mining it.

    Silver: Are you kidding me? The stuff was 5$ an oz when I was a teen. At the site mentioned above, it hasn't gone above 6$ in the past five years. Figure in inflation and you'll see how cheap/worthless the stuff is.

    Nickel: Currently 4.5$...a pound. There was a blip in 1989 where it went up to a whole 6$ a pound! Again, factor is inflation to see these materials are just getting cheaper.

    Palladium: Interesting. A spike in 2001 where it hit 1100$ an oz. Currently 202$. The chart starts out in 1998 at 250$.

    What? I was in the Air Force and I was never trained to kill people. Heck, I only held a gun twice in my entire time I was in.

    But why would you want to? The cost of raw materials on the planet have been getting cheaper and cheaper. The only reason to do space mining is to reduce the costs of getting materials into orbit.

    Space mining to get materials for things you want to build in space is fantastic. No more soda can thin walls in your space stations.

    The leaders that are using the people as pawns just sell the food on the black market. In fact, they starve their own people intentionally to get international aid.

    The leaders that don't care about their people:
    N. Korea just diverts the majority of the food it recieves to it's military. Which is used as an incentive to stay in the military (You won't starve) and to follow orders. Mainly to keep the population subdued.

    By sending food to N. Korea you are helping maintain misery and death that's going on there.

    By sending food to Africa the leaders are learning "If you starve your people, the world sends you money and stuff."

    There is already more than enough food to feed everyone on the planet. The reason people are starving is mostly because their leaders are using them as pawns. (Africa) Or just down give a damn about them. (N. Korea)

    You don't understand the server enviroment then. What if they upgrade to 10.3 and it breaks a mission critial app?

    The original poster is right, this kind of attitude will keep serious businesses away from Apple in the server room.

    Just blink for a second and imagine what would happen Intel filed chapter 11 tomorrow.

    I guess all those other chip companies would benifit greatly as the market shifted to them. They would grow quickly, hiring many new employees.

    Large companies create a small percentage of new jobs. The competition of many smaller companies would benifit people greatly.
