Why do you think I want Al Gore or Clinton in the White House? I said no such thing.

Oh. Maybe you've bought into the 'two party system', because you're a moron too?

I recall (on /.?) there being some sort of browser plugin that would allow you to mark up sites or comment on site content. All this stuff would be stored on a central server somewhere, and new visitors would get an updated view of the notes made *on the page itself*. Not the MS Smart Tags, but something that would let ME make comments. I do recall that there was a hoopla about trolls, interference in page design and the usual "leave my site alone!" hysterical mothers...

What became of this software/plugin - or was/is it google?

I used to sell tax software at a large office supply chain. I recall people being perpetually pissed off that they wouldn't release the state tax portion until long after the federal version, that they both cost upwards of 20 bucks, and that they were difficult to use, got the results wrong, and basically messed things up. I had to deal with lots of angry small business owners, and middle class doityerselfers.

I don't see why anyone should use this stuff - I've heard that some states are going to go to a web based form, and bypass all the tax software. That would be great; as tax payers (you pay for congresswhores to write this crap), you should demand tax code that is accessable and understandable to those without a 4 year degree in economics/accounting/tax law, and

For twenty some bucks, this software fits in the 'you get what you paid for' catagory. Don't use it. Do your own, or find an accountant.

Of course, there are lots of people that don't pay taxes, protesting the size of the tax code, taxation without representation, the fact that you're taxed about 800 times for the same thing or transaction, financing the newest "War on (Fill in Blank)" goverment cash cow, subsidies to multi-national corporations, and payments to future 'terrorists'. You could go that route.

It helps to have a congresswhore in your back pocket, though.

As a 'big city' guy who's moved to a small town, I agree. Basically, if they see it on TV it's like they found it in the bible. I spend about 30 min to an hour every day 'educating' my coworkers on current events and how they are missing the 'big picture' on their big screen TV.

I lived in Minneapolis for 10+ years, recovering from my upbringing in a small town. Thank god for Minneapolis; hardly a big city, it's the reason I have some sense in my head.

I am spreading a counter-culture here, slowly, gently. Converting the farmers daughters one by one...

In a place where TV is the only consistent entertainment, you result in a lot of shitty, market-fed ideas. Sadly, even the adults act like its fucking high school, and Cindy didn't ask them to the prom. Never do I see more close-minded people than in small towns. p2p could mean a free MMPORG; perhaps you pay for updates with new features, items goals and such. All players would have to have the same version to play.

I thought that Thief would make a pretty sweet MMPORG - Sneaking into someones house and stealing their gold pieces/objects duh art. Fencing them to the highest bidder. Slitting the throats of uppity noblemen. Plenty of room for all manner of characters. Guards, thieves, nobles,

That's all beside the point. JYW is going to have new people on. My comment implied that the previous contestants figured out the 'real' reason for the show. Whether or not the new people are minorities or not means nothing in the context of my remark. Yes, it could be inferred that I'm some anti-minority guy since minorities were mentioned in the story I replied too, but if there were no minorities and ethnic diversity mentioned, would that say I am making fun of white people? Who knows. I try and treat everyone the same. No slight was intended.
