What would you say if someone walked into your house and started stealing shit, are you going to say "please mister, could you be so kind as to not steal my stuff, thank you. Oh and by the way what do you think of this weather"?
I just got back from the con today and it was nothing like that. I've heard some horor storys from past rubi-cons (this is my first one) but since they raised the admission price to 50 for students and 100 for adults, it seemed to get rid of all the losers.
I have a computer class where every student needs to use cd's and floppies. These win2k boxes have typical security policies that don't let us modify system options, install programs ect. It would suck if we had to ask a teacher everytime we need to stick a disk in or shut down the machine. You can't always get rid of physical access.
that every time there is a story about TV on/. there are 50 insightful people that brag about how they don't watch TV. So I like to watch some tv now and then, fuck off. You sit around and post on slashdot, one of the biggest time sinks there is. Am I the only one that is tired of this anti TV nazi bullshit?
I would rather just turn off the service, but its a differant matter for joe sixpack. He's not going to go throught the hastle of turning it off. But if his windows update gives him a one click solution he will be more likely to do it.
The show The Screen Savers on Techtv bitchs about this constantly. They have asked Microsoft before to release some sort of patch but they don't feel its necessary. Besides being annoying, it is really easy to create a batch file that does a net send DOS attack. Microsoft needs to provide an easy way off turning off the messenger service.
At Drivemeinsane.com you can control christmas lights in his living room, turn on the sprinkler, office lights, and send mesages that are said with a text to speach program.
I would imagine that most game companies re-use alot of their code. And they probably have a good ammount of their own intelectiual property tied up in there. Also many of them probably licence code from 3rd parties that they can't re-licence themselves.
I wrote this on my site a few days ago. I'll post it here just for the hell of it.
Last night I felt like watching a pay-per-view movie. So I switched on the tv and there was nothing but crap on. Then I thought of what movie I should download from kazaa but that wouldn't be done for a couple days at least. So then I figured I would give Movielink a try. Its a service that lets you download new movies for $4 a pop and old ones for $2.
So I download and pay for We Were Soldiers. The download app informs me that I have 30 days to start watching it, and then 24 hours to watch it once I start it. That's a decent amount of time for a pay per view price. So every thing is smooth up till I start watching it. The video and audio quality is worse than most downloads from kazaa. The sound is sometimes tinny and is very quite when its just talking, extremely loud during action scenes. The video quality also blows. Its very blurry if your sitting close to your monitor, it looks ok from 6 feet but not perfect..
Bottom line is that its not worth $4 for shitty movies that you have to sit in your computer chair for 2 hours to watch.
A fairly cheap method of reducing radio/TV signal interference involves just the opposite of
"grounding". Go to your local Radio Shack store and get a bag full of
"RFI chokes". They have several different shapes and sizes. They snap
together and are supposed to be placed over wires and interconnect cables
in order to prevent RF currents from flowing along the outside of the
wires. You don't have to disconnect anything to install them. Just place
them over the cables and snap them closed.
Ok, two sperm chips walk into a bar...

Didn't think so
You don't need a return evelope. Just write Return to sender on the evelope and stick it back in your box.

If I remember correctly, you can call the operator and place collect calls. Am I right?
This post would make a great novel or movie. It has great characters such as Carla the Crackwhore and Frank the Farmhand.
