    Not to troll but these upgrades always remind me of service packs for windows. And they seem to come out just as often.

    just as often? at least mac waits a year before upgrading, didn't windows xp have a service pack on the day of it's release?

    hands up! however, i have a transmeta based notebook and can't say anything bad about it (other than XP being there, which i'm required to keep...). with two full batterys i get about 10 hours of juice, which is just awesome. and as far as processing power, how much do you really need on a laptop? most of the time you're just surfing the web and writing so it's not that important to have a render-farm of processing power.

    However, my pentium 3 notebook runs extremely hot after about 4 hours. cooling in notebooks wasn't very good at the time of pentium 3's (at least that's what i seem to think), and a decently priced used notebook will get you a pentium 3. and since the cpu will be working alot, i'd say a mini-itx system will do much better.

    i thought the same thing about the sound panel. i think a cdrom or zip disk would have worked much better on the top and the audigy panel on the side. that way when you have headphones plugged in you can put them off to the side.

    but seriously, don't you think this is a pretty big accomplishment for one person? i mean, i wasn't able to find the time it took him, but assuming it's not long, he managed to replicate technology that took 30 years in the first place! and did it all in probably less than a year. now sure, prior work is published and easily accessible but still. just the motivation of the guy to do this is unreal. who else here would do that for something that is basically useless except for "something to play with"? (though, toys are fun).

    it may bring about new ideas for people to exploit. a detailed description of a worm like this is just what some wanna be h4x0r needs to get into it. even the source code as it appears in that link is documented enough for someone with some skills to know what's going on. a detailed description? that's a goldmine.

    well actually ZZ is not greater than wq! especially since they are equal. think of this. you need esc shift-colon for each. then for ZZ you need shift-z and shift-z for a total of 7 keystrokes. for wq! you need w, then q, then shift-1 for a total of 7 keystrokes. plus, if i was really cool, i'd get out of the habit of putting a '!' after it, and since wq does the job, i'd beat you by a keystroke :)

    with the work that those people did on yoda and gollum they definatly deserve EVERY award they get. they'd both better win, or i'm boycotting mtv. (well actually i am anyway)
