Great, if the content is provided by someone OTHER then AT&T. I mean, we have this technology that will offer the cable/satelite providers another competitor (something that everyone has been begging for) and it would be such a shame to just give it over to AT&T. If it's done by the local providers (Qwest, bleh) then at least we have more options.
would also repair micro-cracks and fractures without the need for service
...? Does this sound... not right? I meen, yes, cosmeticly it would be repaired. But it would create structual week points. This could be a big danger to those inside under millitary conditions.
...at the radio station I work at, the main studio containes a bunch of sensitive electronic equipment like OnAir Consoles, computers, standalone editing stations... and that room is kept 24-7 year round at a constant 71*F. Not too cold to stay in for extended periods of time, and not too hard on the AC unit, but keeps the equipment running in great condition.

http://gaim.sourceforge.net/ - GAIM is an open source Linux client. It shouldn't be hard to gut the code for everything needed to send/recive messages, connect, and anything else protocal related, and then just make your program act off that as if it were a string. I'm sorry I don't have more information, as I'm not experianced in that area and havn't tried it before... but that's what I would do if faced with the challenge.
The biggest cost you need to worry about is the movies themselves. Every time you turn on any movie you see a big 'FBI WARNING:...movie is licenced for private home viewing only...'. Now, most of us have already gotten used to this but if you try and set this up you are going to need special licences. And they don't come cheap. Whenever you loose a blockbuster movie, know why they charge so much to replace?
Nope. Close, I'll give you that, but not there yet. I saw no mention of a Heads Up Display in the atricle, so I'm assuming they havn't worked on that little problem of focas. Imagine trying to read one of these things, and then trying to look through it... you can't do both at the same time. It's the eqivilent to holding your hand a foot from your face and trying to be able to read something on the wall and the writing on your hand at the same time WITHOUT re-focasing.
Note: The above does not apply if "you only have one eye", and I'm an "insensitive clod".
Nullsoft maker of the popular Winamp software is also maker of the Shoutcast streaming media server. It works with all copies of Winamp, iTunes, and a handfull of other players. It is efficient, configurable, and availible for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, Linux, and Solaris. Besides that, you reach that huge market share which refuses to use the bloatware that is RealPlayer. It works by running on a machine connected to the internet, and then you can connect to it with the ShoutCast Source plugin availible for Winamp availible here. You can do this eather from a dedicated computer, or the same one running the server. You choose wether you want to stream whatever Winamp is playing, or if you have another input you can choose to use the soundcard. How I am streaming MY online station is a program called QuicPix made by the same people who do the wonderful iMediaTouch automation system going out the soundcard, into a mixer with a CD player and microphone, and then going back into the same computer where winamp sends it to Shoutcast ALSO running on the same computer.
Google strips all non-characters from your text, and since that is a / and a., those are removed to leave you with . And, google shows you nothing if you don't show anything to google.
And what about those pop-up spammers? Apperently there isn't a law regarding that... and it's much more irritating. The dialog is always on top, there isn't an easy way to get the senders IP address unless you log all access to the ports, and it's SO DAMN ANNOYING. My bet is that if there is an explosion of Pop-up spam, then a new law will be made. AND, this is a good thing so it can take into account all these things that wern't thought of 4 years ago.
According to the article and many other posts, the mod chip doesn't allow a PS2 game to play on an X-Box, it allows a pirate PS2 game to play on a PS2 box. MS is concerned because of the presedent this is setting: if PS2 mod chips are legal, so must XBox chips.
I think they have every right to do this. Not only is it THEIR product, but the mod chips hurt them very much. As everyone has heard a million times, they loose money on the console... and then makes it up in the games. When people are actualy allowed to do this in an area, they should be able to say "Stop this, or we can't sell to your area." It's just the bottom line, and they are well within their rights.
Just take one of these, and one of these and you're set! But realy, the article said it could power small devices very long, but could it be very small and power a big device for an acceptable amount of time? Even if it had to be replaced every 10 years, I'd get one for my laptop if it was small enough, and cheap enough.
When you get that small, you might as well go for a PDA. I'm sure the battery would last longer (where do they PUT it in that thing?!) and those small devices have evolved to be the most convienent for their size. That thing looks like it's running a regular version of windows, and no matter how high that screen resolution goes (doesn't look big) everything is still going to be way to small to make big use of.
if you arn't allowed to drill holes, why don't you use the ones that are already in the walls? I'm sure you can get some dual data/power wall plates and just do it like that.

Once again back on topic, I've heard about simmiler projects, the first one that comes to mind is the guy who made a copy machine out of legos here. (He now works for them.) Has anyone else seen any other insanly cool projects?
Someone's joke that Mozilla/Netscape causes crashes (blue screens). Been their forever. I guess Bill thought it was too damn funny to take out :|

[New Page 1]
Seriously, a technology company with a site title of 'New Page 1' makes me think they are a bit under-staffed for the job.
She lost a chance at a $65,000 contract job at the Discovery channel because of this
You wouldn't? Trust me, I'd sue them for every cent, drag their name through the mud, and DDoS their servers for SIXTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLERS.
Yah, I'm sure that yo@mama.com is getting millions of accounts worth of NYTimes spam...

If the servers can withstand the attack without going compleatly down, I guess they know they did something right.
Article:
"Despite the scale of the attack, which lasted about an hour, Internet users worldwide were largely unaffected, experts said."
All I can say is that if you think of this as a test, I'm happy it passed.
(Insert joke about Beowulf cluster of DDOS attacks / the servers ability to withstand the slashdot effect.)

With Winamp? No, that's not a virus, I got that too. Made a screen shot, but I'm sure I wouldn't be able to find it.
REALY now? You havn't heard about the Dogcow?
Like any talented dog, it can do flips. Like any talented cow, it can do precision bitmap alignment.
My FAVORATE quote, ever.
