    Truly an American icon.

Survival of the fittest is an observation, not a criterium for living. If you are alive, you are surviving and therefore "fit", regardless of how you survive. Evolution doesn't have a goal...we aren't slowing down the creation of the ubermensch with welfare because evolution isn't leading us to the ubermensch in the first place.

    OTOH, I don't like welfare. :)

Or someone with a bad command of the language can do a bad translation of it and no one catches him on it until latter. I use OSS but at least with commercial software MS is hiring professional translators. I'm not saying there aren't good or even pro translators out there translating for OSS, but that certainly doesn't mean all the translations are perfect, especially not because the software is OSS. Imagine if the OO.o translation had the norwegian equivalent of "all your base are belong to us" for example.

I'm a freshman here. I don't have quite as many entertaining stories, yet. Um I got one tho.

You have to take this course, CS1114 which is a basic intro to CompSci. If you take the AP Computer Science exam (and get a 4 or you might need a 5, i am not sure, I got a 5 (the highest)) you get credit for it and go move on to CS1124 w/o taking 1114. Here's the kicker: They'll give you credit for AP Computer Science A, but not AB. Guess which one I took? Yeah, AB the more "advanced" course. So I had to take 1114, and it was immensely boring. I know when kid who got them to place him into 24 anyway, but he doesn't have credit for 14.

Oh and as someone else already mentioned, the female population is practically non-existant.

Ok, obviously I haven't taken a critical thinking course in college (yet anyway) and I will admit I don't know what "sufficient but not necessary condition" means (but I plan to look it up).

My problem is that the argument rubs me the wrong way. It feels like the mental equivalent (although more subtle) of aiming a gun at a guys head and saying "say I'm great, or I'll blow your brains out". Now, its entirely possible that I am wrong, and frankly I didn't get into this because of the pacifist/non-pacifist issues. I just really don't like an argument that seems (to me) to have artificial limits on its response.

Now I hope I've proven to you that I can be reasonable. Obviously this dicussion isn't going anywhere and I think we should agree to disagree. Either that or argree to disagree and secretly think the other is a jerk ;)
