They spent the prior twenty years lobbying to have the banking regulations that prevented them from taking outlandish risks with what was essentially other people's money, and then raked in massive personal gains when they produced short term gains in what was essentially a financial game of Russian roulette. The people in charge of things knew very well what was going on. I am not a banker and I can see how risky their behavior is, and these people are not idiots.
Their behavior has cost the country billions of dollars, and probably put tens of thousands out of work for personal gain with full knowledge of what would eventually happen. They should be dragged from their mansions and shot in the back of the head with a cheap Luger as a object lesson in social justice. On top of that, it read like Jordan just finished LoTR and really wanted to write something "just as awesome". The only reason I finished the first book was out of morbid curiosity: mainly, am I missing something? Why are fans reading 8 or 10 books of this stuff, when it is this awful?

If we have gotten to a place as a society where having more money allows one to buy legal victories with more lawyers, then there really isn't any reason for the fiscal/legal 'little guys' to not just pull out a gun and kill someone they disagree. The whole non-violent method of solving disputes goes straight out the window.

The only evidence these guys were in China were the sources of the IP addresses they were using. They never went any further than doing a whois. So they know the hackers were using systems in China, but it's a very large assumption that's where the attacks actually originated.

Ignoring the random and pointless aspect of this proposal, what is a 1% tax on violent video games going to generate revenue wise? We have a single president, with a finite amount of hours in the day, and a trillion dollar economy. Unless he is is working on legislation that is operating in the billion dollar range, I am pretty sure he is wasting his time, and my tax dollars.

Supposing that either Obama asked them to look into this, and they decided to do so, it would be early into an investigation into political corruption, which will take a VERY long time to run. They will be extra careful to make sure that any charges they throw at Dodd will stick. On top of all that, I don't know that its a common practice to publicly announce that you are starting an investigation into political corruption.
