  1. Modern Art on $5M In Torrented Files Presented As Art · · Score: 1

    Second, THAT'S ART?!

Many people balk at the stuff that is passed as 'art' by contemporary 'artists'. They can fairly call their 'work' art, because the artists have realized that beauty is subjective, and that by definition, everything and nothing is art depending on who you ask. Therefore an 'artist' has the right to call anything they want 'art'.

A very nice side effect of this definition, in my opinion, is the more subtle point that anyone can also label said 'art' as 'worthless crap' with equal weight and validity.

The fun will be when people go register .xxx domain names that aren't in any way adult related. You know, 'FuffyBunniesandFuzzyDuckies.xxx', a site composed of nothing but cute pictures of fuzzy ducklings and baby bunnies.

If they wanted to really improve things, they would research what hot key sequences were most used, and make those the simplest combos. And yes, the ribbon is ASS.

  7. TV != reality on Mass. Court Says Constitution Protects Filming On-Duty Police · · Score: 1

If there's one thing I've learned from watching 10,000 cop procedurals, it's that if the DA dares charge even en ex-cop with anything, all the other cops will "lose" evidence resulting in a 0% conviction rate, and then he won't get reelected because he'll seem incompetent.
What reality are you living in? Supposing that the cops actually did this, why would any DA not immediately haul the fool who tried to pull this up on evidence tampering charges? The DA chooses to press charges against people he can get convictions against. If cops that are breaking the law aren't getting charged, chances are it is simply because the DA doesn't see a case.

Can someone explain to me, why the USA is so violent?

Are you being snide? I should kick your ass for that...

As an inhabitant of the USA, I think the biggest problem is the strong individualistic streak that we have. It seems like there are a lot of people who just get caught up in things and don't think of anyone but themselves, and culturally this is being reinforced. They want to be involved in everything, be the center of attention and have the world revolve around them. Short sighted people want immediate gratification and respect, and fuck you if you don't give it to them.

Most people here aren't like this though, just enough to make the rest of the world think we are a bunch of violent, impatient jerks.

I think that was the point of an arming doublet, a jacket or coat that was worn under say, plate maile that had straps and hooks for fastening armor on.
