You have to learn who your audience is and how to speak to them. as for my parents basement, naw i like it here, me and spiders have it pretty good down here and soon my girl robot will be finished! and non to soon as the chaffing is killing me.

The system is broken, there are not Mr. Smith in washington, you can't fight city hall, the sky is falling we might as well give up and accept our fate now.
Screw you homeland security, why not cover the county with soft fluffy pillows so when we (or at least "the children") fall down they don't get hurt. Look damit, terrorist are not backwater ignorant bucktoothed country folk, there are eductated (usually in the U.S.) religious zelots or crackpots or both. They do not need to use these reports to generate a blue print, they already have one. Security through obscurity has nor, does not, nor will it ever work. Go ask Microsoft if you don't believe me. Besides i would love to see real time reports so that way we can send in a team of heavily armed drunken red necks in their 57 chevy to all the big outages just incase the outage was due to a terriost attack, be casue no matter how much of the religious zelot they may be, no one can stop Zek and Earl after they've downed a case of Highlife.
ya know at first this seemslike a chepa shot, but the truth of the parent post is rock solid (although in my opinion i would have listed more examples other than just netscape, but i digress) I would like to see the numbers of just how many companies have been bullied out of business by MicroSoft's Monopolistic practices and how many people lost their job, vs. how many people who have lost thier job {der terk ar jurb!} due to open source.
you do remember correctly, this is oh so sadly true. The AIW cards are good cards under linux, i just wish they would work with myth tv. But on the other hand, there are cheapo tv cards out there that cost less than $50.00 that work beautifully with myth tv. I was able to to build a cheap PVR using myth, and 50.00 dollar card 258mb ram, 200 GB HD, and an AMD 2700 for less than $400.00, runs great.... although the tv card has no tv out so to watch what i record i have to network in the computer with the AIW card and then send that output to the tv. but hey if it wasn't complicated i probably would not have built it;)
yeah i've done that, but thankfully this was only with a webpage membership test db, no real accounts were lost.
but i can guess what you went through, i feel for you man
with the band i ran sound for i'd use an FM trasmitter designed for CD players (as this was before ipods ever came out) and i put the transmitters on stage witha coat hanger wrapped around the the small antenna the trasmitters had and it increase the range form about 5 feet to 20 feet which as perfect for use on stage. The singers would get cheap-o head fm radios with ear buds, and presto dirt cheap in ear monitors. whole setup (minius expensive music gear and musicians of course) about $25.00. $20.00 for the transmitter (best buy) and about $5.00 for teh fm radio with ear buds (walgreens) worked like a charm. Later i was able to get a an FM transmitter kit from radio shack and that put out a stronger signal, as as long as i was within sec 15 part...umm i forget but either way stay under.1 watts and not broadcast over a licensed frequency and the FCC couldn't say a thing.
yeah the ipod deal is a nice little trick, but let me tell you the FCC are bastards about violations of their rules, specially if they can bully around little people, after i left the band my firend decided to run a pirate radio station out of his dorm rom and got busted for broadcasting over frequencies he shoudl not have. So i suggest if you do this have a very fast car and know how to drive;)
unfortunately companyies have made so much money that the cost of these lawsuit are now factored in as part of "Cost of doing business" and it will nto effect them except to serve as free publicity. Damned if you do and Damned if you don't that's the how Corporate America is gonna get ya.
i have a hard enough time getting my Open Office.org documents to print, how the hell am i going to get these awe inspiring, life saveing, cancer curing, all dinging, all dacing lables to print?
i build web pages for food all the time. my day job pays the rent and bills, the web pages are easy and cheap, so a homecooked meal is perfect for me. Also it gets me good word of mouth which i hope will one day lead to a nice coporate gig where i won't feel like a rapist charging for my services.
doesn't the honda robot navigate stairs? when you should be really woried is when the automous robot carring a weapon makes it's own descision to fire.
well if they started to follow Google principles then they would stop being spyware. Kinda like what if God was one of us? then God would be God anymore duh! and if the rat bastards told me what they wanted me to do, i just might let them tracking my p0rn surfing habbits, or my morpheus downloads, etc. I know how hard it is to get good metric data, and that data could me either more jobs of less jobs next year, and if i can help some poor schumck keep his job then let world know i look at naked pictures of supermodels, hell i'll even admit i beat off to them too, my pride is not worth some guys family going hungry becaseu some bean counter didn;t get enough data. But if you lied to me or install something without my permission, screw you! all bets are off, let the bastards starve!
seeing how fans have help to save Family Guy, even pitched in money to save FarScape (if even for only episode) and even FireFly, might it be possible to "pass the hat around" to give these people who have entertained us so much a little something back?
