Therere some nice devices that just become as old as a turntable.
My Philips CD player is 11years old (even plays CDRW!!!!), my Kenwood portable CD player 9 years.
Apple must be kidding. Thats almost Samsung niveau! Samsung wont even last 15months.....
with ogg vorbis decoder.
The Philips DVD 737 was almost perfect, DivX 3, 4, 5; WMA-free; but no ogg vorbis.
Stupid thing....
I still watch my DVDs with mplayer.....
I like iX, I have a PC, I run linux. Am I a zealot now? Well, I know a lot of pros for linux and as many cons agains windows. That's very dangerous, really!!!:-D
HBCI is fine stuff that works very well. Maybe it's even secure.
I just love my Moneyplex 4 Linux from http://www.matrica.de
There's even open HBCI if you don't like commercial software. But I really think commercial software that uses open standards isn't bad.

AnandTech is a stupid page. I can't get any info without flash.
Thanks for nothing.
It's on my blacklist now because of amazing stupidity.
But anyway, the Athlon 64 is great.

My only contact with MS is, when there IIS is down like on Asus.com.
But that's on the remote side and I can't do anything else than not buying Asus.
My old Asus A7V133 wasn't 100% stable, their site doens't work, Asus is trash like MS.
Just buy a board with the SIS748+963L-Chipset like the ASRock K7S8XE.
Use a new Kernel like 2.4.22rc2 or you have to boot with "noapic".
That board is much faster than my old (very good supported) kt133a-Chipset and it's saving much bandwith when grabbing CDs.
You may have problems with some old multiwordDMA devices in DMA mode but hdparm helps here and don't bother because of 20% cpu usage.
USB works (e.g. ehci or usb-ohci if you don't use USB2 hardware anyway), ALSA knows the C-Media soundchip and the LAN controller works with SIS900 module.
Even 3D works without generic agpgartSISsupport.
It's rock stable now, as long as I don't try to mount a CD in my old SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-408B BS04 (32x/8x/8x) in dma mode.
I'm in contact with the SIS-IDE-hackers and I hope it will be fully supported soon.
There're other advantages: Just buy one 512MB DDR module instead of 2 x 256MB.
There's almost no difference between nforce2ultra (dual channel ddr) and nforce2 (single channel) because the Athlon XP hasn't more memory bandwith.
The SIS748 is often just 5% behind the nforce2ultra when running 3d-Games. But this are just a few frames when only a game is running.
In the real world you watch a DVD while you download pictures from your digi-cam or you wait for your hard drive loading huge 3d-Games and so on and the SIS-chip has much bandwith to do all things at the same time.
But I still have to buy NVIDIA graphic cards because they are the only ones who have really good drivers for 100% power.

and I've sent a fax to Lexmark Germany that I don't tolerate companies, that don't grow because of leading products and fair competition.
Well, I haven't found any printer with a CUPS-Logo on it.
Some need the windows printing system, the others need CUPS (Linux, BSD, Mac, AIX; Solaris, HP-UX.......)
I wonder why vendors still use a Mac only driver instead of one for all iXs
AMD has Opteron and Athlon 64 with Ultra Low Latancy controllers. Previews say that performance often is not a matter of maximum bandwith (3,2GB/s Athlon 64 and 6,4GB/s Opteron) and the Athlon 64 performs just like a P4 xxxxC with FSB 800 in memory dependent benchmarks like q3a.
Have fun:-)
Isn't that great: Putting the German SCO out of business for a little chance of getting a billion $ in the US...
Nice idea,it should come true.
Losing hundreds of millions in Germany without getting a buck @ home.
I really like this flamebaits from Anonymous Cowards:-D
No doubt, thousands of blind testers @ www.heise.de have prooven that wma is the loser of the 4th generation codecs.
This comment isn't really for you but for all others who read this and might still use MP3trash;-)

Well, perhaps you can optimize the code for Athlon64/Opteron. The ordinary 1.0source just depends on the clock speed and I don't like that very much when using any Athlon (XP/64) with low clock speed.
Perhaps you have an idea what technology of the Opteron finally hits the Athlon 64 desktop.
Thx

I've ordered this addictive high quality game.
Well, I'm still waiting for NWN in an acceptable quality....
Loki was just too good, my exspectations are high:-)
and until now I've made wav-Files of any CD out there. Now I have a copy of every "protected CD" and one more in my Ogg Vorbis archive (oggenc -q5).
Still wonder why the people use an obsolete audio compression codec generation like MP3 or others.

My way was DOS 6.0, WIN95-DOS. Playing DOSgames in Windows wasn't good:-)
After I've got a PC 100% on my own I've ordered Linux and it was great.
I'm an IxFan now:-)
Drive letters suck...
Just try ROTT or XRick and you know why I like SDL:-)
I could never accept the EULA, I can't stand drive letters (plain stupid), I don't need graphical overhead for a router, encoders and other things...
Unix is IMHO just that what fits to my needs @ home.:-))
My job is done.
By the way: No war on Iraq (already)! Bush isn't religous, he's an actor. And a very bad one indeed.
I've heard there's a Blair doll that fits into Bush's b***
Im bound to nVIDIA, ATI and XGI suck, but I want to chose between at least 3 powerful chips with good drivers.

I have a Asus A7V133 with 1gb SDRAM lying around. I don't think it's good to use a 50W cpu (AthlonB 900mhz) for idle tasks. Stupid thing.

and of course it sounds like they don't have that patent yet and I doubt that even a patent will be relevant....
