I can't think of a reason the past few months specifically that would make the number of sites doubled...
Just because this research firm *discovered* more sites, doesn't mean the actual number of such sites in existence increased. Did they even check to see how long these new sites they've catalogued have been around? I suspect the number of sites for phishing was even higher than the current October count of 1,142 way back in September... possibly significantly so.
...take it's entire site down, and replace it with a nice notice to all the googlers out there WHY the site is down and WHO they have to thank for it (complete with contact info and addresses and phone numbers and fax numbers...)
if they do that even for a day i think these idiots will get the point that search engines are important to the internet... we need them and the functionality they provide. this is how they work and how they have to work.
My dad used to work at Lawson software back in the 80's! I got to get him this book.
I think the times my dad took me into Lawson's big computer room with it's raised floor and tall computers spinning those big tape reels probably helped spark my interest in computers a lot... and probably part of the reason why I'm a CS student now.
And the thing is... the Kodak instant camera was superior to Polaroid's. It had better color, and the photos were flat and photo-like... unlike Polaroids which have that plastic envelope around it and it feels cheap.
I live in Arizona and there's no chance in hell this state will together vote for anyone but Bush. I voted for Gore last election (even though I liked Nader better) but this election I think I'll support a third party candidate.
If I vote for Kerry, AZ will still vote for Bush as a whole (I think there are only two states so far that split electoral votes) and my vote will be kind of wasted. But if I vote for a third party then at least I can contribute to the 5% of the popular vote to receive federal matched campaign funding.
If I lived in a swing state, however, I would definitely vote for Kerry over any third party candidate, even one I preferred over Kerry. If even a fraction of the people who voted for Nader in 2000 in the state of Florida (and I think there were some other really close-call states), then Bush would have lost.
So if you're views are leftist like mine... I'd reccomend voting for a third party if you live in a Republican stronghold, and voting Democrat if you live in a swing state... and I'd reccomend voting Democrat if you live in a Democrat stronghold, just in case....
I bought a K6-III 450... it was the first ever PC I built. I did a lot of research and settled on an EPoX board (MVP3G-M). It was a wonderful system for the time.
I'm 23 and I love my tube amp... a friend of mine had an artist housemate who's boyfriend worked at a fancy audio shop... so she had a tube amp and nice speakers. Being a starving artist she sold the tube amp and both speakers with stands to me for $600. I had been wanting them ever since I first had seen them. They just look too cool. You can't be a tech geek and not be fascinated with it when you see it.
I forgot to mention it's not new because I've been playing MP3s, from my PC, on my tube amp for years and I know lots of people think to do this who own tube amps. I have an iPod now but haven't tried it yet with my amp. It sounds like crap though in my car with the iTrip FM transmitter, definitely a last resort device.
I've always preferred playing my MP3s through my low-end tube amp (an Antique Sound Labs MG-SI15DT, which has two small 12AX7 preamp tubes and two KT88 power tubes, and my speakers are Mordaunt-Short Music Series)... it sort of smooths out the MP3s, and I don't notice the sampling rate even if it's bad... if I play MP3s through my Sony A/V receiver the sound is either too muddy or too tinny... but through the tube amp it sounds vibrant and lively. Sometimes pure digital audio sounds too sharp and isn't easy on the ears. Analog audio tends to flow.
Some people don't like tube amps for the reason that they "color" the audio too much and it's not a perfect reproduction (fidelity)... but lots of people have a soft spot for the "warmer" sound... lots of people even like the sound of old vinyl records (even though vinyl records have horrible fidelity, the studios have to mix the audio specially for vinyl records different from how they do for CDs, because there are certain audio ranges that vinyl is horrible at reproducing -- I think it's the high end).
But one thing can't be denied and that's that tube amps look damn cool, and are fascinating technology... the tubes are out in the open and you can see inside of them how intricate they are, and they usually glow orange in the middle and some tubes have a blue haze (I've noticed this particularly in Svetlana brand KT88's once they've worn in a bit).
I can run Windows on PowerPC... using Microsoft (ex-Connectix) VirtualPC. However, I think that emulating PowerPC architecture on x86 doesn't work as well as x86 on PowerPC... I guess because "complex" CISC x86 assembly instructions can be reduced to RISC PowerPC instructions... whereas PowerPC instructions (I assume) exist in x86, however the x86 is not optimized to run that way... x86 probably assumes you use the more complex instructions available like MMX stuff.
Wouldn't you still need a bunch of supporting files and APIs to run a Mac program on Windows, vice versa, and for other operating systems? Programs make specific calls to the operating system, like windowing toolkits... this emulator must be huge to ensure everything works and they must have done massive successful reverse engineering of closed source files in the Windows architecture.
You lose rights to it, and can't defend it later, right?
Hopefully the name change from Mister Sinus Theater 3000 to just Mr. Sinus is enough of a name change... I don't think Mr. Sinus reminds me of Mystery Science Theater 3000... I didn't think of it until I read the article and saw what the full name used to be.
I kind of agree (with your disagreement)... MST3K was made in my home town and I've been a fan club member (#18624) since I was in 5th grade. My letter I wrote to join the club must have taken less than a few hours to get to Hopkins from Eden Prairie. So I instinctively want to side with Best Brains on this point... but I really can't.
I really wish they would consider this an homage and not be litigious about it... I don't think these Mr. Sinus people were intending to rip off Best Brains... and it's not like they're stealing income from them either with their local live show. It's cute.

Isn't that your DOS version?
Here you go: pr0n?

Ahhh! Augra told me about this...
Now the Skeksis and the Mystics can reunite at last, and the crystal be healed!
This was my very first thought after reading that, too.
it's a dependant clause without a main clause, not a sentence
I have an Atari 7800, Sega Master System, Sega CD/Genesis/32X, NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Game Gear.
And a Tandy CoCo2 and 3.
they're sacred you know... and i dont want god to get quite irate...

I suppose every sperm or egg had a potential future as well...
It depends where you live I think.

How is a Pentium 4 RISC?

for supporting animal abuse, i hope they live with the smell as a constant reminder of the reality that the food is a rotting animal.

they're not available anywhere.
