  1. Solution to the WRONG problem! on Will Solve Captcha for Money? · · Score: 1

Instead on focusing on eliminating the spammers which seem to excell at annoying end-users and admins alike, would it not be far more practical to simply stem their source of revenue?

Understanably, some of the less scruptulous sellers may even be out of jurisdiction, but perhaps there could be a way of limiting their profits by confiscating their products at the border. Move which would then be complemented with an advertizing campaign informing the populous that supporing spam is in nobody's interest.

Either way, filtering and patrolling can only go so far.

  2. HOW is this NEW? on Smart Elevators Coming to Seattle · · Score: 1

The mariott (?) hotel in NYC on times square has had this tech since summer of 2004. It isnt all that bad, the only problem belies when the confused tourists start looking for their elevator.

I do however that this system is quite ingenious and efficient, if coupled with multiple elevator zones, such as those employed by the mariott (express elevator to upper 20% of building, express to lower, express to top floor/restaurant...etc).

Again the only problem with it is that there was no touchpad IN the elevator itself, only the emergency buttons and open/close door buttons. I am not quiite sure how firefighters are to us this particular model to get to the desired floor.

As for this article, i think fuji is just looking for some free press :).

The reason there is a speed limiter is very simple and twofold:

    1. Prevent engine damage. A lot of newer engines are intereference based and shoild the timing move up just one notch you and the manufacturer are looking at a nice big fat bill.

    2. Tires. You may think it is funny, but a lot of them appear to be limited to certain speeds because the STOCK tires have not been rated to higher speed/control.

Not to mention tat Japaneese have "gentleman's agreement" to keep cars under 280KM/h and germans are 250 km/h, but it is not mandatory.

How true that is, i dont know, but comming from a man who predicted the "bouncing" of earth, brought us AC, as well as patented, if not even invented the radio, remote control and wireless transmission of electricity should come as no surprise. And yet in his time nobody saw the potential in most of his inventions. Granted he was full of hot air on some of his predictions, however, even in those claims his fondations were generally sound.

Its all fun and games, but we all know that fiber cannot be bent more thant 30-45 degrees directly (but rather gradualy) and even then it has to be encased in some sort of polymer/plastic armor to protest it. But the best part comes when you take it to your redneck mechanic and he just yanks the cabe and breaks it in half, somehow i dont think you would be paying 2000$ to fusion weld the cable? Or better scenario is if one of the laser diodes fails (happens over time, it is a diode, after all) after 10 ish years? Can anyone say forced upgrade? BTW isnt Fiber sensitive to constant vibration?

I know im going all negative, dont get me wrong, i see nothing in implimenting this, i simply believe that this should be thought out more, especially if youre forced to get new cables/comm units ONLY from Nissan (due to DMCA?).

Not to say that this vehicle doesent have a bright future, heck, im guessing this will make one helluva city car. They did borrow one good thing from GM though, for if this car gets mass produced the owners or factory, will be able to change "skins" (IE top part of the car) intermittently.
