There is already a Chineese instance, seperate from the rest of Eve.
The problem is not the scalability of the overall single universe model, the problem is the size of the nodes running individual solar systems. You get a Jita with 1000 users and it's the CPU, not the network that's going to die. They need BIG hardware, massively parallel servers (32+ CPUs or more) with dynamic CPU allocation for big in game events such as the recent D2/LV fiasco, and even then it's not enough. They need to create a model where they can cluster multiple nodes to serve a single system. Fleet battles aren't going to get any smaller, this recent battle shows that.
One other matter is the issue of threading. I don't know squat about the server software but the client does not seem to thread at all, making Hyperthreading or multi-CPU systems (such as the very popular Core Duo systems) much less effective. I suspect this is an issue with Stackless, but it's one that certainly could be solved.
Capital ships take two players to fly, one to open a cynosaural field, and another to jump the ship. Also, Carriers can take on other players ships for delivery through a cynosaural field.
They need to get some big iron, 72 processor datacenter level servers, and make them 'floater' nodes whereever they are needed. Dynamic processor allocation.
Lag is one thing, crashing nodes a whole different animal. If they expect me to keep paying them they should be able to handle anything their 'universe' throws at them, even if it means traffic control at the gates restricting access to over crowded systems.
Training is very important in Eve, but it's also extremely clunky. There is no way to set up a 'Ciriculum' where you would buy the skills that you want to train and set up a training order. Instead I have to log on at weird times and train to the next level, in order to keep from being idle.
Also, now that you can warp to 0km from a gate, is there going to be a skill that will allow autopilot to do the same, ie, level 1 would warp to 12km rather than 15km, level 5 would warp to 0km?
Quit changing the 'rules of the road'. I hear the Type II BPO lottery is going away, what about all the RPs that I've been earning?
"Blizzard really got it right when they introduced "bind on equip" and "bind on pick-up" equipment. It prevented the hardcore players of hording all the "good" items and then selling them for unfair prices. If CCP introduced something similar with blueprints, I think the T2 market wouldn't have been so broken."
Isn't that what CCP did in EVE with Implants/Hardwiring and now Rigs? You put them in and they are not removable. Most are also very expensive.
I read the other day that the Moon missions NASA is undertaking will use Metric, mainly due to the potential of interaction with International Partners. I think this is a good thing, especially seeing how the Mars Climate Orbiter was lost due to a metric/american mismatch in units.
Personally I was lucky and got some work grading and working in the lab at school before I graduated, so experience was never an issue. For many people internships work out well, allowing you to work without pay and get some experience. I have seen many older people that obviously have work experience but none in the industry take internships during college to get their foot in the door.
I went a Seaworld once and ate dinner at the Dinner with Shamu where you get to see their larger pool, and talk with the trainers. I asked him just how smart they really were and he said VERY smart. I asked how many commands they knew, and he said 300-400, which is really very amazing.
They aren't usually mentioned in terms of the smartest animal, usually that's dogs, pigs and horses, but I bet Killer Whales are WAY up there, maybe even higher because of the size of their brain.
I've bought replacement parts for IBM (Lenovo) and Sony laptops direct from the manufacturer before. I've heard good things about Dell also, but Alienware turned me down for a replacement keyboard.

I went to a barber the other day that told me it's illegal for them to use a straight razor in Texas. He was using a disposable Gillette double edge.

Houston Looting and Plunder, uh, Reliant Energy (they change names several times in the last few years, maybe to escape their reputation), recently started reselling Wind power under it's 100% Renewable plan. I signed up, now my 2200 or so kwh per month are guaranteed to be replaced with 100% wind generated power. There are wind farms going in Galveston and Corpus Christy, also a tidal power project. I figure this is about 3/4 of my energy budget a month (about $300 with $100 for gasoline and natural gas), so it made a huge dent in my carbon footprint. I then bought a Terrapass for my GMC Suburban which is a major bandaid approach to clean energy, but at least they are investing in good projects. Once hybrids get more mainstream I'll buy one.
You don't think it could be that Sci-Fi gamers are more intelligent and discerning than Fantasy dreamers, uh, I mean gamers, do you? Sci-Fi is highly analytical and scientific, so if the premise falls apart then nobody will play the game. Fantasy ALWAYS works because the premise is nonsense, based on a made up reality with no basis. You can do literally ANYTHING in a Fantasy game since you can just write it off to being an alternate reality or something.
" I also think there's something I can't explain, which is that people are more willing to play a fantasy game that's not as good online, than they are willing to play a sci-fi game that's not as good online. And I'm not sure why that is.' Suggestions?"
I recently changed my plan here in Houston, Tx from Reliant Energy's standard plan to their 100% wind power. The difference in cost was negligable, maybe $5/month, and now my 2000-3000kw/h per month are totally green. They replace at least 100% of the energy I use with wind power. I figure this is about 2/3 of my total carbon footprint I have reduced in one swoop, and I have cast my vote for clean energy.
Runner up: Dr. Katherine McMichaels (Barbara Crampton in From Beyond)
Both Combs and Crampton were in both movies but Combs wasn't a Dr. in From Beyond where Crampton was and Crampton wasn't a Dr. in Re-Animator. I rate Combs top merely on the fact that I liked Re-Animator better, barely, than From Beyond, although Crampton was far better in Re-Animator:)
I think the book was Greg Bear's "Slant". http://www.ereader.com/product/detail/5?book=Slant

You were training on the operation of the launcher. Now you need to train on the ammo.

It's pretty obvious to me, the data is proprietary, so it's easier to keep it hidden than to start the "I'm selling more than you are" war.
Remember, your 'corpse' in Eve includes the remnants of your Pod, which is why your mass is so high.
I've been playing Eve and it leaves your frozen bloody corpose laying around for quite a while after you die.

It all depends. What's her Social Security Number?
Actually this will be Hubble SP4. They've done 3 repair missions so far. Marc

So if we make a copy of Bush does that mean he could be re-elected?

This has got to be the most schizophrenic company I've ever seen.
