I think it would be more effective to expose the amount of illegal/copied software being used within the Australian government(or any other government) as a way to "embarass" the government into using cheaper software alternatives. It's one thing to expose the known cost of commercial software in use by a government. But it's another thing altogether to bring up potential penalties that said government would be forced to pay should their violation of various EULAs be exposed.
And, since when have modern governments ever been embarassed about wasting money? Doesn't happen very often. At least, not in the US.
Hey, out of curiosity, what does silly putty do at high velocity? I've wondered what it would be like to fire this stuff out of a 12-guage or something. Sabot rounds maybe?
I'd love to see something like that around here if it weren't for all the booby-trapped marijuana fields everywhere. Well, in the north end of the county anyway.
I personally think the review Tom's did awhile back(that you cited) is set up better than the OCAddiction one. It also shows the FX 5900 in a better light and includes the 256 meg variant of the 9800 Pro as well. I don't see why the OCAddiction benchmark warranted any attention other than the fact that it is the only one I've seen that shows a 9800 Pro card beating a 5900 Ultra card.
Personally I don't like either card(both too expensive, both more than what I'd need). The 9700 Pro is about as much vid card as I could possibly want right now.
uh, say what? Who in the hell gets paid extra to work on sundays? I have worked many different jobs on sundays and I have never been paid extra for it. Is this some sort of odd thing employers have to do in MA?
There are no email lists being sold! There is no spam in the mailboxes of bigpond accounts! Do not believe the infidels! The glorious Telstra corporation will triumph!
I can see a future in which these sensor-ridden chairs will offer deals to the airline passenger for Preperation H if the sensors detect that said passenger has hemorrhoids.
I was horribly disappointed by the first movie. I have no compelling reason to see the second one unless they release a "Abuse Keanu" edit of the film that features nothing but Neo getting his ass kicked(and I doubt that would have much footage anyway?).
Not that I love Wal-Mart, but where I live, it's a shorter drive to the closest Wal-Mart than to all of the stores I might need to visit to get all the goods and services offered by the local Wal-Mart. I can also do this and at least purchase most of said goods at any time of the day(okay, so if I want an eye exam, I'll have to go during the day). The parking at Wal-Mart is usually ample, at least around here, as opposed to a lot of older local "mom & pop" joints. Want to park downtown? Forget it. You pay or you get lucky and find an empty meter and . . . pay slightly less.
One thing I don't entirely understand is why they insist on embedding the RFID tags in the products themselves instead of in the packaging. If they want inventory control, well, why not just stick the tag in the packaging? About the only problem that would present is if the product was removed from its packaging before purchase, which is a problem even without RFID tags. I suppose, theoretically, shoplifters could remove products from the packaging and walk out of the store with them, but that wouldn't be hard to do even if the tags were embedded in the products(just put it in a satchel or something lined with lead or some other material that might block the waves used to query the tag).
I would rather see packaging contain some kind of RFID tag plus a device to transmit a signal to some kind of receiver in the store to indicate that the package had been opened(a device that could be removed/disabled at sale) than see RFID tags in the products themselves. Once the product leaves the store(purchased legally), the RFID tag serves no legitimate purpose.
Same here. Are you using a modem or something? I'm on 56k, so it might not like DUN or . . . well who knows. Or maybe it's pissed because I have ICQ active.

I didn't mean that in a negative connotation, you know. Going without death would be rather, uh, horrific and/or boring.
I'd like to think I deserve death. Just not right now, thank you very much.
But we all deserve death, don't we? Erm, eventually?
Reading the responses to this story reminds me of why I am glad that I read at -1.
Propz to da trolls.
It was a Death Adder, and Gileas Thunderhead attacked it with a golden axe.
There's always room for J E L L O

Please mod parent post and all parents up. This sort of thing should be mandatory reading for all Slashdot readers.
In Soviet Russia, the solution is not YOU!
Hey wait, that's probably true everywhere.
Fancy that.

Linux on Xbox, yippee. Where are the Xbox emulators already?
Oooh, hey, maybe you could run an Xbox emulator on your Xbox this way. wh00t.

Wow, makes you wonder how much money was made off of .it domain registration . . .
China, maybe? They sold the Iraqis all kinds of interesting guidance systems for their AA batteries/launchers.

Preparation H Raymond may be out of a job.
Gee, I wonder how many Egyptians have broadband . . . no, I wouldn't download Matrix: Reloaded on a modem, would you?

I installed it on a win2k box using a 56k modem. It chastised me for not being connected to the internet. Helloooooo.
.
Lame.
I may be a turtle in the matrix, but . .
(this is a Shadowrun reference, Keanu sucks)
I would prefer Trepia if it gave me a buddy list of Perfect Strangers.
And now we will do the dance of joy!
Not again
. . . can it help you save on your car insurance?
Oh wait, that's Geico not . . . uh nevermind
Why you have to go and make things so complicated?
