Wow, I haven't seen enabler files in ages. I'm pretty sure those were ditched in the OS 7.5-8.x days. I believe they were superceded by the specific ROM files for the various New World machines (see above).
Very cool. I've wondered for a while why we weren't offloading some DSP effects to video cards or somesuch. Now it seems we finally are. I wonder if this will eventually lead to distributed rendering of some heavy duty audio effects...
Just had to chime in with a quick observation. As a longtime Mac user, I can't help but notice how many comments there are about how nicely drag-n-drop works, how uninstalling apps are easy, and just general ease of use of the OS itself [ie, the Mac way of doing things]. These are all the things that us Mac users were trying to get people to notice a decade or so ago. Instead we were told how the OS was too "childish" and "not really easier to use than Windows." Yes, the true multitasking wasn't there, nor was the command-line. However, all of these "niceties" that people seem to talk about nowadays have been there forever. Like I said, just a little observation I've made.
They should instead say something like "Free software", "Free to get, free to use", anything that doesn't have the bad vibe that comes with "free download"
I'm sure posting a big flashing "Free as in Beer" graphic will boost it's popularity with the college crowd.
I went throught the exact same thing with those damn Invisiclues books...The worst was when you stopped playing a game for a month, only to pick it up again later to find that the hintbook you spent 15 bucks on was now no good...I supposed it's still better than paying $2.99/minute for some telephone hintline though...
one problem i see with the voicechat theory...isn't the whole wifi thing with the DS so you can play wirelessly with people who are in close proximity to you? why would you need a voicechat feature to talk to someone who's standing 5 feet away from you?
My point was that _something_ changed between 0.9.3 and 1.0.
Geee, i wonder how that could've happened... : p
Microsoft's site can probably claim higher numbers of IE users.
I can see the press release now: "According to the statistics for windowsupdate.com, 100% of the world is running Internet Explorer"
imagine a lone computer sitting by itself not connected to anything...

At any rate I'd guess I can write code faster than I can talk it.
Yeah, but can you write it faster than you can think it?
I think he's only got one email address.
Now where did I put that abacus?
But then you gotta watch out for those pesky termites...
correction: two speakers the size of a dime
Like a deep tissue amssage for a minute.
Ooooh! Sounds relaxing!
Personally, I'd like to see search algorithms (perhaps data-search, perhaps even video search) move to suchc a co-processor.
Oh, I'm sure you'll be able to buy a GoogleCard(TM) for your machine in the next few years...

funny, i could swear the GP specifically mentioned video while you keep on referring to audio...i still have no idea if the GP is true...
so, umm, how'd you get it? ; )

You are so right, it's time to send man to the Sun!
Reckless Visionary indeed!
I think this one will win out simply because the MSNMS acronym is easier to pronounce than iTMS. Either way, I won't be using it...
Let the sun be your backlight
I really hope you meant frontlight, since the sun as a backlight would mean that you're staring into the sun while trying to read your PDA...
BAH! I know that! I was talking about for-real download/purchases/whatever. Thanks tho...
give me a site that lets me download whatever song john peel is currently playing and i'll be happy.

I bet they had programmers offering to work for free. Heck, I would have paid them...
Y'know, I think you may have just stumbled on the next revolution in software development...

so, is he not really dead then? why'd this one get pulled?
So isn't naming a DRM product Janus like naming an airline "Icarius"?
That gives me a great idea. Who wants to help fund my new airline?
Icarius Airways: We'll get you there on time -- or we'll die trying...
