Mods... have a clue, this is not a Mac-centric article...
The article states "Electronic Spreadsheet", not specifically VisiCalc.
But since you want to make this a Mac issue... From the article:
The market for electronic spreadsheet software was growing rapidly in the early 1980s and VisiCalc stakeholders were slow to respond to the introduction of the IBM PC that used an Intel computer chip. Beginning in September 1983, legal conflicts between VisiCorp and Software Arts distracted the VisiCalc developers, Bricklin and Frankston. During this period, Mitch Kapor developed Lotus and his spreadsheet program quickly became the new industry spreadsheet standard.

...to get more coders for this project, or it's to spur interest on LAMP projects for Real Estate.
Well anyway, if you really want to attract more attention to this project, here are some important things to consider:
Real estate people mostly don't get the free as in freedom of speech and/or free as in beer concepts.
Want to get their input? Sell the thing, it's still open source, and you're not going against the GPL and should be able to keep your pages at Freshmeat, GNU.org and SF (if you do have a project site there).
Know how to pimp your project... When targeting RE agents, showcase the commercial features... When targeting coders, showcase the technical features (like plugins/modules, themes, some sort of data extraction layer, etc. etc.)
Most importantly give incentive to people who contributed code/fixes.
I'm saying what I've said... spend some hours on it. I didn't imply anything about his abilities, that is entirely up to him to pimp it as a skill or a disability.
Non-DRM WMAs works... not only that, it works easily, on my computer, the mrs' computer, and the computer(s) at work, and just to emphasize "workability" even on Linux (using mplayer).
Those who think that the DRM-ized version would be problem-free would be foolhardy to say the least. Heck, anything that has "rights management" in its name would scare off anyone who has an understanding on what a right is... especially if someone else is doing the management!
from a site which has no prior experience dealing with such technologies... wouldn't you just try to buy one (or two or three at most) songs just to see whether the thing works?
The blogger obviously puts in too much trust on such experimental media (as opposed to established formats such as MP3 and Ogg, which many of us knows at least *works*) with a plethora of restrictions, and(legally) playable on one platform! All I can say to her is "Serves you right, ignorant casual user!".
You need to know your stuff before engaging in things such as DRM-enabled "new" media. Perhaps now more people will see evil behind such implementations and the fallacy behind claims that it will make your life easier, add more purchasing power to your dollar, world peace, bla bla bla...
It's easier to grab people's IP address there. Unless of course u happen to use networks that hides your hostname (for DOS attack precautionary measures).
Has the RIAA started it's "crackdown" on IRC networks?
Err... maybe you should try searching for: "what you want to find out" -buy -commercial -shop -"some other terms involving exchange of money for goods and services"
...a few albums off your site, the price is acceptable to me. But when I clicked on the Shopping FAQ, it seems that you only accept payments via PayPal.
Give me an alternative to purchase via a merchant with a properly implemented online payment scheme which doesn't require me to: a) Live in the US/Canada/EU countries (or some other form of geographical bias). b) Pass to them my current/savings account info. c) Fax paperwork to them.
And there are lots of them out there on the net... Try to resist the "easiest way out" method by using (only) PayPal.
The fact that not only Linus himself uses Linux can already be considered a success...
To succeed in the mass market, it has to be put in the market first... Something that Linus did not do!
Don't confuse Linux (the kernel) with Linux Distributions such as RedHat, Mandrake, Slackware, etc. They distro companies are the ones usually marketing Linux and facing the customers... not Linus himself.
MySQL doesn't need to "grow up"... at least not quickly. Let it mature at its own pace. Frankly speaking I just don't get it why people do the "MySQL vs Postgres" thing every now and then. Postgres targets a different set of users than MySQL, which does not even pretend to be a full fledge DB system.
Why is MySQL popular... because it's light, and Postgres is bloated if you compare them in a sense of DB backend support needed to run a dynamic web site.
Could it also be due to the "hard as hell to install" factor? Hmmm...
...if released in the near future as stable. I did play around with the 2.5.69 build and I must say it's somehow feels faster.
However, the new module handling procedures in the 2.5.x series makes some of my frequently used apps to behave strangely (iptables for example)... even with module-init-tools.
Before I read the article I thought the submitter was having fun poking RedHat (or in the case of slashdot... gentoo), not stating the actual distro used, but just saying that it's very familiar.
Who would have thought (besides those who actually does dev stuff on handhelds) that there actually is such thing as Familiar Linux!
It's actually $45.5 million out of RIAA pockets in total. Sure, not that much considering the size of RIAA. But at least they'll feel the pinch.
Now that we have precedence, maybe there should be waves upon waves of this class action. If there is relentless waves of such cases, hopefully the RIAA will get the point, and look at other distribution models more carefully...
Anyway, I guess here would be a good place to post my Build Your Own Sex Simulator article...
Hardware Required and Cost Your Hand (Free!) Lubricant (Less than 5 bucks, or if you're a really cheap bastard, use the handwash liquid in a public toilet).
HOW-TO 1) Put lubricant on your hand 2) Work it all over your shaft 3) Spank the monkey till it pukes

He should spend some hours on HTML when he's done with the roller-coaster.
The roller-coaster is something really cool... can't say the same about the site though!
Almost nil... he was (forced?) to resign.
There's no Metallica on it!

'Nuff said... back to some kernel hacking!

Ah well... as long as there's progress
... and i thought the Gnome/GTK movement died for a few years ago, at least!
Well, the only thing worse than a slow news day might be a slow dev year... or two.
Asia has it's representative in space exploration.

LOL, I meant the Would that everyone could write that well bit.
Not close enough it seems

Not that I'm holding my breath anyway.
About 10 posts, and it's already slashdotted...

Yeah... and the next thing they'll come up with is that humans are descendants of apes...
