Have you sat down and spent some time with OS X? There is a lot of quality Mac-only software out there. Plus the fact that it now has UNIX underpinnings means there's a whole lot of native UNIX software for it too (you can run OS X and X at the same time). Mac OS X provides a true UNIX environment with an excellent development platform and graphical shell. It is also arguably the best user interface for a desktop. That plus the vast amount of quality Mac-only software gives plenty of reason to switch. For the record, I use a Mac at work, and a PC running Debian and XP at home. I am very tempted to buy a Mac as my next computer.
I don't think Apple is going to start making 3 button mice. First, there are already plenty of quality ones out there. Second, it might set a precedent that some Mac software requires a 3 button mouse. For power users, it's ok, but for regular users, it makes a lot more sense to have one button. I am guessing this is a case where three mouse buttons are needed, but I am guessing they will try to avoid that situation unless they have to.
Amen to that... I cracked the edge right off of one while installing a heatsink. It nearly sent me into a panic attack, but thankfully it still works. I don't dare breathe on my box now, though.:)
But would the fixed CD explode if the universe spun around it at that speed? I was thinking you could tell the difference that way. Sorry, I'm not very good in the physics department..
Yes, companies are answerable to their owners, customers and employees. Do you honestly think they present the same face to each of these three groups? How well informed do you think each of these groups are, on average? Why do so many large companies donate so much to the government? I am part of a business myself, so I agree companies are more honest than most people give them credit for. But your view is just as naive as his.
Upgradinging of the firmware, totally legal? Ackk. You can do whatever you want with your CD-R drive and it would be totally legal- you have first sale rights. I will be scared if we live in a country where people even have to wonder if modifying their own hardware is "totally legal" or not.
Not trying to sound harsh, but there's no need to call people losers. I think you could have calmly explained yourself, and your point would have been just as well taken.
While PNG is fine for small graphics, the files get exhorbitantly large (at least in network terms) if you start compressing things like photographs. PNG is largely intended as a substitute for GIF and TIFF, not JPEG. Perhaps we will begin to see development of a JPEG alternative now, though.
Although I haven't looked inside, the G4 I work on has two 5.25" faceplates.. are you sure it's only one 5.25" bay? Also, you can have as many CD/DVD drives as you want (external Firewire), there's just a limit to the number of internal ones. I agree, though, I would like to see more bays.
Both the blue G3 and all the G4 cases have drivebays like PC towers, PCI expansion slots, etc. etc. This is something Apple fixed a loooooooong time ago. Nice troll attempt, though.
If you had bothered to read the news article for that day, you would know that they are poking fun at the new Mac commercials, not Mac users themselves.
Slashdot users visit Meatspace? Aren't we gonna Slashdot meatspace? It feels so empty without a link to Slashdot..

Most MP3 decoders suck. Try listening to MP3s through MAD and see what you are missing.
Keep up the good work. ;)
You've misspelt "misspelt". ;)

He was referring to "Back To The Future". 88mph was the speed required to travel through time, not the top speed of the car.

Does relativity apply to spinning objects?
Haha.. you just brightened up my otherwise completely crappy day. Thanks. ;)

One more reason why operating systems should be less bound to a commercial entity and be more like a publicly funded/designed infrastructure.
How do bigger keyboards consume more power?

Why not just show up late? Me and my sister usually time the previews, and then just show up that number of minutes late, minus a few for error.
I guess that explains the first two lines, which say:
I'm not sure what this shit is meant to accomplish, Apple, aside from pissing me off.
The Mac users I know don't like the Switch campaign any more than I do.
Nice try, though.
He was referring to the infamous goatse.cx link that is often posted here.
