For a while I stopped watching movies in the theater completely. But then I realized that not all theaters treat their patrons as poorly as Regal (Regal owns almost all the theaters in my area). I found a nice old place in a sleepy little town about 25 miles away that is privately owned and treats their patrons with respect (not to mention having reasonable ticket and concession prices). I also will travel even farther to visit one of the remaining drive-in theaters in the country who also value their customers enough to treat them with respect.

Let me say that again: "literally every single person I know that has tried Vista has switched back or wants to switch back". I see posts like this all the time on the internet from people claiming to like Vista but I am starting to serious doubt their genuineness given that I cannot find a single person in meat space that likes it.

Anyway, wake me up when Dell starts selling more PCs with XP again (including 64bit XP).

I don't know about you, but I would feel really betrayed and cheated if I found out my software vendor was purposely withholding patches and support documents for their own gain. Especially patches. If the software is broken then the maker should have a responsibility to make any existing fixes freely available to all clients/users (implied warranty). You shouldn't have to pay a company to release a patch to you that they are holding for ransom. Oracle's anti-competitive practices are hurting their customers and I hope they rot for it.

This is the same reason why I think HD-DVD will eventually win out. China's HD DVD format is based on the HD-DVD standard and players can be made on the same assembly lines. This makes it much cheaper for them to produce an HD-DVD player then a BluRay. We are already starting to see this gap in shelf prices. Since all the cheap players (and really most of the players in general) come from China, this gives HD-DVD a distinct price advantage. I predict that once the HD market grows beyond home theater enthusiasts and console gamers, there will be a sharp shift in what people go for. Alot more people can/are willing to afford a $100 player then an $400 player.

They were just trying to do their job and help out customers. At worst it could be considered trespassing...but "stealing code"??? By that standard, anyone could lay arbitrary claim to anything on earth just because there was some sort of geographic similarity or geologic connection. Anyway, the other end of the ridge is connected to Canada so is the premise is valid, then Canada has just as much claim to the territory as Russia.
