  1. Education is futile! on Singapore Blogger Spared Jail · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Reading this thread shows an amazing lack of knowledge of other countries and total ignorance of the idea that what someone else does might work better than what you do yourself.

A lot of Americans are pounding themselves on the chest and huffing and puffing about how free USA is when everyone with a few working braincells know that USA is not a paradise and neither is any other country or system. A quick look at recent US history reveals a lot of issues that could never have happened in my home country including cencor ship seen daily in media here in USA. Go a bit further back and look at Mc Carthy in the 50's and the witch hunt for communists. Free speech? My ass!

And can someone explain why free speech is a fundamental right? What is the reasoning and validity behind this? What is the validity of reducing it if it is a right? As far as I can see, free speech is only a product of society and not anything fundamental. It's given to you by the laws of the country you reside in, but i don't see anything universal to support free speech and so I see that most countries, including USA, feel.

Whenever someone starts telling an American that they really are not the worlds best, esp based on international measurments used, Americans immedietly dsmisses this as flawed, false statistics etc. Why? Because they know that USA is best no matter what everyone else says and what facts says.

I don't care if you personally feel you are superior, but resisting facts that shows otherwise says more about mentality and brainwashing than about a good education.

Chemicals in beer? Not other than natural ones, found in water, barley, hops, malt and yeast. However, what the majority of Americans manage to swallow is as far away from beer as I'm from the moon! Budweiser? ROFLMAO! Miller? LOLOLOLOL The only brand (mass produced that is) that can be called beer is Samuel Adams.

The situation is ofcourse quite different when it comes to micro-breweries et al, but then again, Joe Sixpack can't even pronounce microbrewery, not to mention visiting one and trying to have a beer rather than whatever-it-is-they-put-on-bottles-and-call-beer he normally drink and call beer.

US beer is better than Canadian? Wow, why don't you Canucks drink water instead? I mean, come on! If it is worse than the "beer" that is sold in USA, it's reason enough for a revolution. What Americans call beer, I call chemical water, tasting like shit. People should be executed for calling that concoction beer!

But we all know that "security" is not really about security. It's about giving people a "feel-good" product that earns some people vast amounts of money.

Most security is at best pathetic. Why? Because good security is expensive and sometimes invasive hence not acceptable by Joe Sixpack.

Example of such feel-good "security" is what's going on at airports around USA. Best illustrated in Soul Plane

No, I couldn't care less about money, I have enough. I'm here because of my skills. The company I work for wanted me to move over here. Since the area I live in is quite a bit warmer than where I come from and I can play golf all year, why not try it for a while? As a foreigner who has been living in US since 1999, I must say that I wish neither one upon my homecountry. I don't think there is a single country outside USA who wants the same system. In most countries, the American justice system is used as an example in law school of how a judiciary system is supposed not to work, And this thread once again shows the reason behind this. If you are going to put out something publically that possible can hurt either a person or a company, you better have proof to back it up.

My homecountry does not need any additional amendment to give people free speech, it's part of the constitution. But then again, it has a better standard of living, better almost everything according to globally used statistics. So, you can continue to believe in your own propaganda, but people outside this country are maybe not as stupid as you may think. But then again, I find that most of the loudmouths screaming about American freedom etc, have never been outside their own country, so the material used in their comparison is generally missing alltogether.
