I've used mobile phones since the late 70's, first the huge mastodonts in a small suitecase, plugged into your cars lighter, with an antenna on the car roof, via the first hand helds in the 80's up to the new ones we have today. Oh yes, I lived in Europe during those early years.. The American system is IMHO, not very good as you have to pay for incoming calls and whatnot. paying per minute used is much more economic for the consumer and ensures that you will get no overage charges, resulting in a second mortgage to pay the bill...

One thing we need to consider is the following: One plnate has to be the first to develop intelligent life!

What if life flares up and dies out again within a few million years?

What if this galaxy only contains a few planets with intelligent life and far apart, but other galaxies contains life in abundance. The distances makes it very difficult to communicate.

What if the universe is full of life but because of distances it is not possible or extremly difficult to communicate?

It is a very interesting area, but unfortunatly we can do little more than speculate. And yes, SETI is just a speculation, a speculation based on how WE think another life-form would communicate. Alas, I will never live to find out if there is life on other planets.

Climate? Well, all I can say is that my current residency, Florida, suits me better than muggy UK.
Food? Does British food exist? If it does, it is probably just a notch better than US food.
Women? So and so... I personally prefer latin women, but that is just me.
Beer? Ahhh... Now we're talking business.. US beer is like fucking in a canoe... Damn close to water!
Cars? Ah yes, my beloved Jaguar. Will never get a different car.
