I've been using farious Linux FS on multiple production servers, ext2/reiserfs, no problems at all. Today, I'm using ext3, quota support is better and you still can use chattr with ext3;)
Anyway, you should run RAID1 or 5, if possible with a hw RAID controller, hotswapable disks and perform regular backups, if you are serious about your data.
If anyone has some info, why ext3 is in most benchmarks faster then ext2, I would like to hear.
The author of the package manager emailed me a few weeks back and told me that this is a tool only for professionals and experienced users
LOL... Come on, grab ARCHIVES.gz from the first CD, use zgrep and rpm to install. Yast2 is the worst, I have ever seen/used. Using SuSE since their first distro (4.2).
With a little work, even a digital camera can be told not to take pictures of the screen.
I have a camera, that is over 70 years old, still working great. Highly doubt that it will be interested in anyones DRM crap. It just makes pictures, better quality then any digital camera can do today.

Don't think you can blame Linux here, many things can happen after an unexpected shutdown. The real problem is this cheap crap Wintel PC hardware, mosts "Linux server" don't have the possibilty to redirect the BIOS/POST to the serial console, like real server have. Connected to a terminal server to enable logins, no matter at which point the boot fails/stops.

Yes, I enjoy using/bin/sh within/usr/X11R6/bin/xterm. This makes a great file manager for KDE. It does have a "built-in" web browser, called lynx[..]
/bin/sh is only a symlink to/bin/bash on Linux. Lynx is a seperate program, on most distros per default installed. Even 'less' shows.html today, sad if you really wanted to read the , you even need to press 'v' to switch to vi...;-)
Isn't the real reason for running X + your favorite window-manager, you can have multiple xterms open at the same time....;-)
