In order to make the planes more maneuverable, they need to make them less stable. A simply analogy would be a school bus is more stable & less maneuverable than a bicycle. I have read that flying a modern fighter aircraft without computers would be like steering a bicycle backwards while sitting on the hood of a car at 60 miles an hour.
If everyone on the planet converted from fossil fuel to wind powered electricity in 30 years, it would take another 300 years to undo the excess heat trapped in the troposphere over the past 300 years
How does a link to CO2 concentration have anything to do with heat trapped in the troposphere? Based on the fact that it gets cold in my room every night, I would venture to guess that the planet is capable of removing heat from the atmosphere at a much faster rate than you suggest. CO2 concentration would be another issue, however.
You bring up a good point. If a person wants to buy a new(er) car, they should learn what ABS, AWD, & HP means. If not, I'm sure the friendly used car salesman will show them exactly what they need.
Time to install a wireless NIC card into my laptop. I can download some cool songs & send my neighbors up the river at the same time! Once they are all sent to prison, I'll get a much better parking spot next to my house.
The average person would pull money out of the stock market to take care of a large expense, such as buying a bigger house or education. Once you get to the financial level Bill Gates is at, it is all a game. It is like a score on a pinball game. The objective of your money is to make more money. If it isn't doing it fast enough when it is, you put it somewhere that you feel will be more effective.
He may want to purchase an island & relax where he can get a better tan than Redmond. Say Oahu, for instance. Even if this is the case, he doesn't need the money. He could keep the shares at Microsoft, forget about them, & it wouldn't affect him one iota.
You have to consider the emotional connection he has with Microsoft. Given the time & effort he put into this company, it is probably like a child to him. I would imagine it might be difficult to relinquish control in that circumstance. Or he may simply want to put it behind him.
I see Bill Gate's massive sell off of Microsoft stock as an indication of his belief that whatever he is moving his money to will be more profitable in the long term than Microsoft will be. There are more than a few Gates haters on the site, but you have to give him credit that he can manage money. If he thinks there are things out there that will be more profitable that MFST will be, I would be inclined to believe him.
And how exactly is a list of recent transactions on MS shares supposed to support your comment?
If you look at the last transaction of Bill Gates, 04/29/03. You will see he had 183,499,336 remaining shares.
If you look at the last transaction of Steve Balmer, 05/30/03. You will see he had 410,968,074 remaining shares.
Steve Balmer has almost 2 ½ times the number of shares Bill Gates has.
If you look closer, you will see the Bill Gates has been selling off Microsoft stock like crazy over the last couple of years. Does he know something the rest of us don't?
At the end of the day, you've really got to hand it to Bill. You don't become the richest person on earth by standing down by the train station and begging for money. You get there by being damn smart in everything you do,
You also get there by investing/ creating the most profitable companies & getting out before the bottom drops out. That being the case, what would that say about Mr. Gates' massive selling of his Microsoft stock? Does he see some financial trouble in Microsoftâ(TM)s future? Take a look at the dates & the number of shares he owns:
Depending on what you are storing, they are a few ways that I have discovered how to store CDs & DVDs.
The first thing I did is moved the discs from the old school music CD cases & put them into the newer slender plastic cases. I guess you could use the envelope type cases, but I never cared for them. That will reduce the size buy about 60%. However, I keep my music CDs in the original plastic cases because it keeps the booklet & liner notes together.
The next step is the bulk storage of the CDs. I would recommend a MC3D from www.can-an.ca. Just make sure you don't type it in using a dot com, as that is a gay porn site. The MC3D will hold 810 CDs or 360 DVD in the standard cases. They are a bit on the expensive side. One MC3D will set you back around $400 plus shipping. I have one for DVD/ VCR tapes & one for music CDs. They are both getting full & I will purchase 2 more.
However, if you break it down buy storage cost per CD, it works out to about just under $0.50US per music CD & $1.11US per DVD. That is a cost that is hard to beat unless you compare it to shoeboxes under your bed.
All in all I would have to say I am very happy with mine. Very space efficient, attractive, cost effective, stackable, & modular.
I had an older replay unit that did not have the commercial advance & it behaved very similar to how you describe your TiVo. I recall hearing my friends remark about the commercial advance on their newer replay units & I responded very similar to how you are. "Why do you need a function when a few key presses solve the problem?"
But I changed my tune once I bought a newer replay with the functionality. It actually adds even another level to the usefulness of the PVR. What it does is listen for the increased volume level that commercials are known for. Once it detects it, it simply fast-forwards to a normal volume section.
So this is what it is like: You are watching a show & the host says, "When we get back from the break, we'll rebuild this engine." "and we're back." I smile every time it happens.
It isn't perfect. Sometimes it skips because an explosion happens on the show or the beginning of Nova, for instance. But it isn't hard to turn it off for that show. I must admit I do not feel at all guilty when I miss the commercials. I feel that if they wanted me to see them, they should record the audio at a more reasonable level.
I saw the writing on the wall when I bought it. I knew that either they would use the legal system to disable it, or they would get smart & lower the volume of their commercials. But I'll enjoy it while I have it.

Very unstable yet very maneuverable.

I'm a US citizen. Just email it to me & I'll submit it. We can split the $4 ThinkGeek credit.

Why shouldn't computers be any different?
Why do you assume he is a he?
Touché.

Why do americans seem to have such a problem with this phrase?
Why do you assume he is American?
I have heard that Logitech makes Microsoft hardware which would explain it's quality.
Not True. I worked in the hardware department at MSFT for 2 years. They design & build all their own hardware.
(Driving the French mad is of course, like 'wiping your arse with silk').
Fantastic tie-in. You rock!

because if it decided to not record something in my show because the volume detect did not work, then I would just get pissed off
Actually, The replay unit records the entire show & activates the commercial skip during the playback.
Each pixel on this Samsung must be massive.
