a question: how does this compare to a intel's hyperthreading processor. any benchmarks on that? When comparing against a hyperthreading (HT) processor, do you count a HT CPU as one or two. Linux kernel sees HT CPU as two, so SMB kernel has to be used.
his group argues that, if its members are prohibited from calling people who do not want to be called, then two million telemarketers will lose their jobs. Since when did pestering peole during dinner become a profession? No I am talking about the automatic dialers. More than half the calls I receive, are made by automatic dialers.
I mean I wouldn't mind talking to a actual humanoid on the other trying to make me upgrade my long distance service, when I dont even have a long distance service to begin with!!!!
UOP claims that you dont have to spend much time on HomeWork, or in Class. It is for people with Busy Schedules.
I didnt know learning was so easy. If you want to learn something, you have to make sacrifice. I remember when I was in school for Computer Science, I spent close to 40+ hours/week for my final project and classes.
I understand that people who have fill-time jobs, and families dont have that kind of time, but as i said earlier, learning requires sacrifice. If you dont have time to take 2-3 classes, just take 1 class/semester at a regular uni.
you can email the faculty member associated with the course, and you will get a prompt reply. I have always received a reply same day. offcourse this not same as learning in a classroom. But you cant have that for free. You need to pay for that. Professors need to make a living as well.
I started going through one of the course few months back. And one few ocassions I email the instructors, for clarifications/explanations. And I always got a prompt reply. Even though I am not paying anything to MIT.
i wish the presentations from MIT Emerging Technologies Conference, LinuxWorld, and Apache be available on the internet for free. I can't go to all of them. i only have money to goto to ApacheCon:(
Video taping them, and making them available on the internet or on a CD for a charge could be also beneficial. Just a thought.
Where is the Official Press Release from HP to this effect?
RDF is quite pratical

RDF is quite pratical - with or without the book. There are several hundred websites explaning how to use RDF in your application. There are classes for JAVA/PHP etc for this purpose.
A interesting use of RSS is to integrate it with the IMAP, and get the latest email show up on your portal page.
breaking something, usually speeds up upgrade process.
In IT people that a lot (especially with the servers)
And with the recent increase in MS security patches this has become more evident. People are scrambling to upgrade/switch to better OS (like OS X, Linux etc)
why would i wanna "buy" a book, that has info that is already available on http://www.w3c.org?
You can also join the W3c mailing lists to get in-depth info on any of the technology stacks.
Offcourse there are other optimized HTTP daemons, that are faster than regular build of apache. but these are optimized for a specific application. you can NOT take these web deamons and run PHP/java on them. for e.g. the WebCam server based on a BSD kernel runs a optimized httpd will not run php/java.
When I was in university, i built a webserver that could query a Objectivity DB. It was extremely fast at doing that "particular function". But that doesn't it was better than Apache. Cause querying a ObjectivityDB was all it could do - which is not of much use if you are not using objectivity
However in everyday usage you need a HTTPD that is more generic in nature, and can handle various elements of a technology stack. Apache is far better than other general purpose webservers, that are capable of handling various technologies (java/php/webdav etc). IIS is also one of these. But IIS is not faster or better than Apache.
i dont think military has any worse IT dept then any other large corporation might have. it is just that they become the target of the media, since afterall it the "MILITARY" we are talking. but i think it is all just hype....
While this is a little bit worrisome because of what malicious purposes people might use nmap's version detection for
hmmm I think NMAP will only report the version that service will respond. I can make my Apache instance respond with anything, for e.g. "saqib webserver ver. 9.0"
Version detection can also be very helpful
It is good to know that NMAP support version detection. There have been mny instance in the past, especially during the recent virus outbreaks, where I wished I could find the Service version.
heartbeat and openbrick is a very good idea. However I will suggest RSYNC instead of ftp.
RSYNC will help you re-start the transmission from where you left if the connection breaks.
the money is going to come out of the user/customer's pocket...

Why they didn't just unplug the machine though is beyond me. ;)
i think they are busy answering the fone calls.

Plus gaming industry created 5000 new jobs last year. How more democratic can we get ;)

gotta have support for WebDAV if you wanna create a HTML editor of the future.

I wish they had included support for WebDAV
seems like they are hosting their website on a mirra. it is already /.ed . on a sunday!!!!
gotta compete. Intel had to come with something better(cost effective) than Athalon64. If there was no competition, we would be still using 8088/6
finally using wireless technology will bring some holistic benefits, instead of just causing brain tumor ;)

maybe you didnt setup your webserver correctly.
How bout we hear from those in the field that can give us a idea of what it is like behind the other side of the heavily armed gate?
;)
