I bought Sims 2 for my daughter about a week ago. Of COURSE I had to upgrade her computer to make it run well. So that $40 game ended up costing me about $150- and a trip to the computer store.
Simple. Reduce the Importance of the test by not caring about the result. That would put a damper on your enthusiasm over the results, but will make them way more accurate.
A fetus is not a symbiote. Biologically speaking, it's more of a parasite. I'm a happy parent and love children, so I'm not trolling here. But let's call a spade a spade...
As for the value of Mona Lisa vs human life: I've actually got a figure for the value of human life, from military operations. That's $2 million plus training costs for the individual. As far as I know, this is in rough (give or take a factor of 3) agreement with the values assigned in other contexts where we actually have to calculate with human lives due to limited resources.
I call bullshit on that. In a free marketplace, supply and demand rule the market. A human life is worth as much or as little as the market says. So, go out with 2 million dollars and try to pay someone to get killed. Good luck. Also, the figure you quote is for a SOLDIER's life. I'm quite sure a Gandhi, Einstein or Berners-Lee are worth quite a bit more (that is, assuming you can put a dollar value on a human life, which I personally think is impossible).
It's not just the anouncement, it's who does it. AMSAT is a respected group that includes known scientists. Oh, and it helps that they know how to spell Spiegel.
"Absolutely not. One of the reasons our species is so successful is our ability to deal with a very wide range of environments, from the hottest deserts to the artic circle."
You realize, of course, that "wide range" of environments go from abot -20 to 50 degrees Celsius. In the large scale of things, that's amazingly narrow. Ditto for the range of atmospheric pressure and atmosphere composition we can survive, as well as radiation and a bunch of other things that could change. Still think we have a wide range of adaptability? How many planets do you think there are where we can live? As far as we can tell. it's just this one.
I'm a Mexican. We have three large parties, and several small ones. Unlike USians, I've lived through the struggle to achieve democracy. I'm sure I get it. What I don't get is your answer. Altough he may not be doing it on purpose, Cobb is effectively acting as a shill for Bush, drawing Democratic votes to a candidate that simply will not win. I just want to know if he's aware of that, and how he justifies it.

So, you both had fun. What's the problem?
...because I didn't like how NVidia basically killed of 3DFX.
Yeah. How dare NVidia offer better cards at competitive prices. Shame on them.

'Insightful' my ass!
Goatse man? Is that you?
Yeah, whatever. Cameltoe screenshot, please?
Getting my wife pregnant is the WORST mistake I ever made.
No. Believing it was yours was the worst mistake you ever made.
Sucker.
Ms. Coward.
We were extremely lucky; our daughter started sleeping through the night when she was a month old,
I hate you.
That's it, really. Just wanted to let you know I really, really hate you,
*yawn*
Oh, how I hate you.

No! It's a COOK BOOK!!!!!
Yep. You were funny, so it HAD to be interesting...
So, here's my stab at Insightful: BSD is dead! And Taco sucks!
Bartleby begs to differ.

Never, but never cite a Geocities page as reference. .
In this case, however, you are right
Gotta love a presidente that also has links to his books, poetry and songs. Specially when the books include Develompents in Fluid Mechanics and Space Technology
It was supposed to be ready by 1999. Now, 12 years later, it is still not completely ready.
Dammit, man, if you keep posting to the past, I swear I'll sic the Timecops on you. Stop it already.
Flash riot police?
No THAT would be scary. But practical.
You were "excited" about being "manned"? Dude... Gaaaaayyyyyyy

I think you meant "WMD in Titan"

So, you're saying that in Soviet Russia astronauts had sex?
It follows that in America, sex has astronauts.
What the hell are you talking about, man?
As usual, Unca Cecil knows
Except the subject isn't war, and Foale is no warrior.
I bet you're USian.
Do you know personally someone who has downloaded music illegally from the internet? And does he/she belong in jail?
You know, of course, that in Soviet Russia it is jokes that think you're not funny. ;)
(Man, you were asking for it)
