"Violent crime has gone steadily down since I was a kid so why are people are more afraid of letting their kids play unsupervised?"
Crime has gone up in some areas and down in others. Down overall doesn't mean it is safe for Johnny to go play in the park outside. Don't be an idiot.
Not to mention loopholes created by the richest individuals so that they never have to pay taxes, all while the classist bullshit propaganda idiots can be happy that the "rich" are getting "taxed" at 90%
I just upgraded from 3.6 to Firefox 4. I cannot stand it. The UI is very counter-intuitive and I find that it takes longer to access things with the elimination of the File/EditView etc toolbar.
I'm about to have to find another browser.
The stationary header or whatever it's properly called is driving me CRAZY.
Of all the things about this I hate it the most.
Honestly, I miss the TNR font and the look and feel of the old design (not the one that was just replaced, but the 2000-2006 era or however long it was around)
Reading comprehension?
It means e-book sales are only 6% of printed book sales.
So many people commented making the same mistake you did, I couldn't believe how many people struggled to understand that LOL
People always forget to make this point. In fact, most are ignorant of it. It's not a corporate vs government issue--it's a market place issue. People want to have net neutrality, but giving the FEC the power to regulate will only lead to more problems in the future.
A bit off topic but I always remember it being "an anonymous coward" not reader.
I haven't been on Slashdot as religiously the past year so I hope things haven't changed.
Many businesses that reach billions of dollars in revenue often rely on government contracts and monopoly protection--patent law being the biggest of these.
Without government interference in the economy businesses would probably be less likely to hit "billionaire" status. I don't doubt that there would still be some, just not as many. In the open source world this is (to some extent) playing out.
Does anyone know if this will affect the MMO that bioware has been working on? I have always trusted bioware but the fact EA had to find some way to acquire them shows me EA is desperate and that this MMO may suck now.
I like good tuners as opposed to bad ones, but I don't ever want a guitar where I don't have to tune. It helps you with hearing music and picking out notes better, plus I prefer the challenge of having to do something different in a song if it comes detuned. Forces creativity.
Mininova is nowhere near the traffic that Suprnova once was. I used to be able to find anything and everything on suprnova, almost always. Mininova feels lacking a lot of the time.
Uh, government = reason everything collapsed. Socialism can be sustained only in a world where capitalism and prices is the norm.
Now if you had the slightest bit of sense about you, you'd understand that the reason the economy collapsed is because the ruble was decimated and worth nothing after the Western banks withdrew investments and stopped using the ruble for anything. The same will happen for the dollar in America.
People may say conspiracy but it always leads back to the money control. What we have in the world is never capitalism. There are behind the scenes forces at work.
If Insurance Company X wants to discriminate that's fine and dandy. Big deal. Eventually some other insurance company will probably pick up the pace and find some way to offer these people insurance without outrageous prices, but what really is wrong here? It's like saying an insurance company can't charge people different rates based on sex.
It's just silly and another anti-discrimination agenda that makes people across both party lines and ideologies "feel good" about themselves when really, they're just making the economy less efficient.
Ron Paul was the only candidate in the Republican debate last night who had a sense of what he was talking about: Strong free market, complete non-intervention, return the old days of American politics when war wasn't wanted and individualism was. I was disgusted how they kept trying to ignore Paul, I may be wrong but did he get asked less questions than anyone?

Until the past few years, most pre-orders were either free or a $5.00 down payment toward the game.
Apparently you haven't went to Drudge to discover that they, gasp, link to other news sites and do very little reporting of their own.
Just learn both systems. It isn't hard to learn both.
http://www.amazon.com/Climbing-Parnassus-Apologia-Greek-Latin/dp/1882926730 Anyone with any doubts to the importance of Greek, Latin, and the classics in modern day life should read this book.

No. I should able to refuse anyone for employment for any damn reason I want.

I will never vote for Romney, Huckabee, or McCain. Fools.

I go to a lot of torrent sites. My point was that, back in the day, I only needed one site, whereas now I very often need 3+.

I am against 100% all government economic intervention. It is unnecessary, unconstitutional, and economically bad. Read von Mises.

does anyone else see the word "starcraft" and automatically think "noob" before the thought of the actual game pops up? Happens to me a lot....
I fail to see why this is even an issue?
