    A quick search on OpenSecrets.org shows that

    Lautenberg - recieved no money from the music/movie industries

    and

    Corzine hasn't either

    Probably because no music or movie companies(eg Sony or BMG or Universal, you know the major players, not just plain old recording studio), exist there or to the extent to warrent funding these men. I'd expect more along the lines of drug makers to contribute since NJ has a lot of pharmaceutical companies.

    Ofcourse Microsoft says it's bad, the Govt picking OSS over them means less money for them. I don't think there will be an qualms from the tax payers though, certianly I won't be upset to see Microsoft get out of the U.S. government. Just FUD that's all it is.

    For example, a 3000+ is not 3Ghz but an estimate Mhz comparison with Intel's processors.

    Uhhh..no, the rating is not used to compare Intel processors it's suppose to compare to the Athlon T-bird.

    An XP 3000+ is suppose to run like a T-Bird clocked at 3Ghz.

    It just so happened that the XPs beat out the P4 at that same clockrating as well.

    He's right, people should question everything thing the government does, because if you don't you end up with laws like the Patriot Act, and the DMCA.

    Even if he didn't get all the facts correct, atleast the film will get people thinking about what the government is doing. I think that in itself makes the film worth seeing, just looking at the people around you while your watching it and see their reactions to what he says.

    I'm sure someone would find a way, but since bluetooth only works when the two devices are about 10-meters or so maximum, the person would have to be inside your house(if you live in one) or pretty close on the outside. I don't know about you, but I'd look pretty stupid standing outside trying to sniff your connection. If you do catch someone trying I suppose you could call the cops then an have him arrested for being on your property.

    Caffeine is actually benefical, it can help reduce asthma attacks, it helps prevent stone formation, it can help reduce the risk of colon cancer and it's an anti-oxident. There are a lot of others which I won't post here, but a quick googling will turn them up, but sure, too much caffeine like anything is bad for you.

    Yes, that and the fact that there is nothing compelling an ISP to log everything, there is no law requiring them to do so, if the do, they can't delete the logs because that would be destruction of evidence.

    No, they got caught copying the work and then they paid the publisher after they got caught.

    What does this really mean, not much, maybe they're hypocritical but that's about it. Although, they'd probably say they actually pay for borrowed works unlike Linux users and this was a mistake.

    Rival chip maker AMD says they have the capability to produce dual-core chips and will introduce the technology when they "feel there is a market need."

    That's what Intel said about introducting 64-bit processors to the masses(not just for servers like the Itanium is for) and now look they are lagging behind AMD, hopefully AMD does not screw up their good position by letting Intel get the head start.

    What do Lucent primarily do? Make base stations or atlease the equiptment for for cell phones. I took a tour of the Whippany, NJ facility and they are also working on getting broadband in the car aswell as piping television through it. They got to about 30 fps, but seeing how there is no motion blur they need a lot more fps. However inlight of their innovation they need to find something that will give them a good chunk of change every month to continure to do innovations.

    On another note, the guy I was with said the employees have a very trusting relationship with each other and that if they left their office they can come back and fine it still there instead of being stolen, however it turns out that Lucent has the highest car jacking rate in the entire town of Whippany(or it could be Hanover Twsp which Whippany is a part of)

    it's that Microsoft only tests them with a Microsoft only configuration that the patches when applied may break non Microsoft software. If your depenent on that software it could get pretty messy. Your damned if you do, damned if you don't. Patch the system and break your software, don't patch your system and get exploited.

    The point releases Apple makes you pay for are actually worth it, they come with a hell of a lot of improvements that I would never expect Microsoft to have in Windows SP or actually in the release of a whole new version of Windows.

    The article gives me the impression that it's atleast 20-30% faster. It isn't, and it isn't in all games, the 6800 beats in out in a lot of them too. It's only by a few FPS as well, nothing that you would really even notice playing games either. That's only on Windows and Mac OS X, when you get to Linux, nVidia will kill ATI on every game, no question. Also, feature wise nVidia is king there too. nVidia is still my choice.

    I actually think the person did it rather well, I always find interviewers always dodge questions like the ones this person asked. He showed his appreciation for Valenti's actions, remeber now, Valenti wants to screw you, the consumer, over, with laws and regulations.

    Some lady in New Jersey is suing the RIAA on racketeering laws, saying that the RIAA is extorting money from filesharers by filing these mass suits and then settling because there is no way these people can legally fight the RIAA.

    If this treaty passes, I think it would be time for a revolution. A completely legal one though, vote out your senators of your state, when they run for re-election, vote for the other guy even if he is part of the opposing party, anything is better than someone who helped ratify a treaty like this. Get support for your cause and let people know about this treaty.

    Yeah it's too late to short it, you should have shorted when it was around $20, now back when SCO first filed the lawsuit you should have bought as much stock as you could from SCO, waited 3-4 months then sold, millions could have been made there. Not like anyone knew that would happen, but if I had a time machine, SCO in March 2003 is where my money would be and then Red Hat when they filed their suit against SCO.

    Hopefully Novell's stock doesn't get shaken up over this, as I see they are one of the named companies and I'm an investor, not a huge one, but I wouldn't like it to drop much anyway. I'm waiting for it to go over $20 - 25 before I sell, so I make about 100% more when all is said and done.

    To tell you the truth, I've always thought about something like that when I post something like that, that I'll be put on the terrorist list by the government for speaking of it. I suppose though if I did get hauled in, it would cause enough unrest in the country to be the spark which ignites the flame.

    Umm...it's not Clinton's fault for the DMCA, the bill passed Congress unanimously, even if he did veto it, it would have been overturned, and it wasn't just the Democrats, it was bi-partisan legislation.
