Now the government is going to allow suppression of freedom of speach, this is not good. America is becoming another Soviet Union, something they were actually trying to avoid. I am seeing a revolution sometime in the near future, it's going to happen, I just know it.
Apple's point with the iTunes wasn't to make a profit, it was to sell more iPods, in which case they actually succeeded, as they have sold more iPods than Macs.
A small company might be able to pull that off, but what happens when the RIAA members see how successful the company is, and realizes it's a threat to their compact disc buisness model and then demands higher royalties. Some member's are already thinking about doing it to Apple. Going from $0.99 to $1.25 - $2.99 depending on the song. What would be that's small company's solution to that problem.
A trick to get rid of that Quicktime Pro version ad assualt is to change the date into a few years ahead, start it, and then go back to the correct date. You'll never see it again for a long long time.
Well if your running a server, it's usually faster to type what you want done than to point and click and load up every program's configurator. GUIs usually only have the most popular options, so if you need to use something that is used rarely then you need the CLI. The average computer user of today however, does not give a flying fuck about the CLI, GUI is better for them.
It depends which kind of coal you are using, if your using the cheap bituminous or lignite coal, than yes that coal is very dirty. However, if you "coke" the bituminous coal to remove the bitumen, it's pretty much just as clean burning as anthracite coal.
More importantly, we should come together as a species and help one another, ofcourse it would only happen on a show like Star Trek, but it's wishful thinking for the better.
I too agree that the USSR should be ashamed and we should be Proud Americans.
Yes, when the world comes to an end, I too want everyone to remember the numerous toxic waste sites, polluted rivers, and massive deforestation of United States of America. I too want to stand proud of all the positive things my country has done for our enviroment.
Come on, you can't blame the entire USSR for that accident, though their government did downplay the damage of the event in the typical Russian way. If anyone should be ashamed it's probably the idiots inside the plant that cause the disaster to take place. I'm sure they new full well what could happen if they did what they did, but they went ahead and did it anyway. Now all that's left is an area frozen in time.
I agree with you totally, I went to a Rush concert at the PNC Bank Arts Center back in 2002, I pulled into the parking space with my buddies, and we got out and started to tailgate. A guy is in the parking lot walking around selling bootlegged shirts. Well he didn't try to sell us shirts then, but after the concert we tried to finish as much food as we could(it's not like we were going to get out of the parking lot quickly anyway), the guy was walking passed us and shouted, "Buy your Rush shirts here". I told him I'd give him a cheesburger for it. Now, he was walking away from us so I couldn't here his response clearly, but I believe he said: "I don't have enough money to eat."
I don't know exactly why he wouldn't have enough money to eat, and even if that wasn't the case, I was giving him a cheeseburger, however, I jacked my bid up a bit and told him, "I give you $1.50, you can go down to McDonald's and get something off the dollar menu." He gave no response after that, or perhaps he did, I don't remember, last thing I do remember from that concert was an Asian looking fellow in a purple minivan, running over empty beer bottles, and myself shouting ehhhh, like the Fonze, and him shouting it back at me as he barrled out of the parking lot.
You can run OS X on MOL with an AmigaOneG3SE for instance. Since it's not a Apple motherboard(an since the EULA for OS X says you can only use it on Apple computers) you would not by running it legally.
I remember reading in an interview with Billy G, and he said Microsoft would not go after people that used the same license on two computers, as it would give them too much bad PR(not that it really matters, they are a monopoly, and I don't think there would be a mass switchout of Microsoft products if it did happen, people are too lazy to change). Even though they aren't getting paid for that fourth computer, they are atleast benifiting from it running Windows and expanding their dominance. It would probably cost too much in legal fees to go sue each and every user RIAA style, and there is really no way to tell who is an isn't, people who pirate software usually aren't dumb when it comes to covering their tracks by stopping the computer from phoning One Microsoft Way. More importantly it might just invalidate click-through EULAs if they took them to court, which ofcourse they couldn't afford to loose, it's what gives them leverage above the user.
It is not hard at all to install Linux nVidia drivers. All you have to have is the sh installer, and the kernel source you used to compile your kernel or the kernel source from your distro that they used to compile the kernel with. Then just type sh nvidia-xxxxxx.sh. It launches the installer, and searches for a packages that matches your kernel and if it doesn't then it compiles the "glue" between the kernel and their proprietary driver. After that, modprobe nvidia and make sure you change the "nv" in the XF86Config(-4) to "nvidia".
No, but nVidia does provide AMD64 support, so if you planning on building a Linux machine with an AMD64 CPU inside, I'd go with nVidia. Actually for Linux I would always go with nVidia, for right now anyway until ATI can pick up the pace, because a Radeon 9700 spits out FPS in GLX gears that is less than a GeForce 5200.
Yeah it seems like the only way to get a Linux port is by indi developers who created their own franchise these days ever since Loki went bust like BioWare's NeveWinter, Id's Quake series, or S2Games Savage.
No Blaster affected, NT, 2k, XP, and I think 2003. However, Microsoft refused to put out a patch for NT citing that it was too old to fix or some other bullshit like that.
Every Linux game I own, I have bought, I refuse to use WineX because that is just an excuse for developers not to port games to the Linux platform. Hopefully, the numbers will come out that Linux has suppassed Apple on the desktop, then maybe Linux will get more games, if Aspry can do it with the Mac and stay in buisness, I'm sure another porting house can start up for Linux games and can do it, just not with the buisness sense of Loki. I hate when people say that Linux users would not pay for anything. That's a fucking lie, stop using it. What about the mass piracy of Windows, I bet you a big percentage of XP is pirated. That's why Gates and company are going to offer a cheaper version of Windows in Asia because of all the pirating. I would pay for Linux if there was a cost to it, but there isn't, so I donate to projects that are asking for donations instead.
However people have difficulty converting between the two systems, like for temprature, a lot of people would get confused an thing that 40 degrees C is pretty cold when in reality it's not. Sure, I'd be all up for changing to the metric system, but how would you go about planning something like that in a cost effective manner. I suppose all new signs would have both systems used could be a start. You would have to reeducate people. It's a heap of problems that no one wants to solve, it's better to leave it alone.
I can never understand these ecoterrorist, they want to help the enviroment, but yet they set fire to cars and other things, putting CO2 and other pollutants in the air, so wouldn't that be harming the enviroment?
However the parent was talking about how Red Hat cut off half there customer because they stop producing a free downloadable and boxed set version of their operating system.(Which really was just draining money doing so, because the number buying it didn't outweigh the money involved in making it). Once they cut the dead weight, Red Hat is now actually turning a profit, and their stock has risen over 100% since. (Though that could just be do to them filing a lawsuit against SCO).
I wouldn't consider half those people actual customers because they aren't buying anything. Sure there was a small amount buying the boxed set, but really it was pretty small compared to those just downloading it off the internet.
Now the government is going to allow suppression of freedom of speach, this is not good. America is becoming another Soviet Union, something they were actually trying to avoid. I am seeing a revolution sometime in the near future, it's going to happen, I just know it.
Sorry, OS X is built on the Mach microkernel.

BayStar's letter did not provide specific information regarding SCO's alleged breaches of the Exchange Agreement.
They pulled an SCO on SCO. Bahahaha

Why would you listen to Rush? Neil Peart couldn't drum his way out of a paperbag. :)

atleast they still have the Weather channel, you can spend hours watching that.

No Savage runs on Linux, infact it comes with the binaries right on CD. The map editor also works on Linux.
No Blaster affected, NT, 2k, XP, and I think 2003. However, Microsoft refused to put out a patch for NT citing that it was too old to fix or some other bullshit like that.

But only because the gubernment is the best authority to deal with it.
Yeah, only when the party in power isn't recieving large sums of money from the defendant.
