First of all wikipedia is not something i care to correct. That page is wrong and if you care so much then you can feel free. In the page about the "first world" it says: "The two "worlds" were not numbered." Meaning the first and second worlds were not originally given an alignment to communist or capitalist.

Later is says "Eventually, it became common practice to refer to nations within the Western European and United States' sphere of influence (e.g., the NATO countries) as the First World." What they left out is that the USA was only the "first world" to the USA. In the USSR and other aligned nations they considered themselves the "first world".

Yes i do have primary sources for this and no im not going to cite them. This is slashdot, and like wikipedia, is a haven for idiots and is not worth trying to make a real documented arguement on. You might not believe me which is probably a good idea since most of what you read on slashdot is wrong.

There is no "first world". The "third world" is countries that are unaligned in the struggle between the USA and the USSR. It now generally means poor countries in the world but neither the USA or USSR were a "first" and "second" worlds.

If you think this is stereotypical or racist then you haven't played WoW. YES chinese farmers DO speak like that if they speak at all. Some are fluent in english but many speak in a perfect stereotype of how a chinese native speaker forms their english sentances.

It might be racist to screen out chinese players but let me tell you that it DOES save you from being ninja looted randomly. Im not so worried about how this is a bad thing becuase they CAN play on official chinese servers if they just want to play a game.

The reason fake electronics are bad is becuase they are not tracable back to their rightful manufacterer. If there is a low quality batch of, say USB cards, that lose data randomly, why should the non-fake manufacterer have their name associated with them.

A lot of people here are having the standard knee-jerk reaction of saying only corporate profits benefit by cutting out fakes but thats just not the case. If a compan builds a brand name not with marketing but build a brand name with actually releasing a quality product then why should the be associated with the quality of fake items. Do you want to read a review of a top of the line quality electronics manufacterer and go out and buy the reviewed item only to find you got bought a low quality item?

The parent is correct. They used the 14th amendment which was designed to give liberties to all people after the civil war. The intention was for black people to use this amendment to fight racist state and local laws. The corporations asserted that they too were people and could not legally be denied the same rights as every human being.

This transformed the idea of a corporation. They were not longer created for a certain business purpose. This is when corporations becuase their own self serving machine.

The key difference however between a person and a corporation is that if a corporation does something illegal you cant throw it in jail. Technically The leaders of the corporation are liable if the corporation does something illegal but they protect themselves with layer upon layer of plausible denial. Everyone points the finger in every direction and you can never tell who is at fault.

This is why corporations are so good for doing shady things. If a person did what a corporation did then they would be thrown in jail immediatly where as a corporation can really only be fined. So a corporation stole $10,000,000? Ok well lets fine them a good chunk of that, lets fine then $3,000,000 and that will really show them!

The difference is that having more maiming weapons wont lead to less bullets and bombs. It just adds another edge to combat to make it deadlier for both sides without actually making any side better off against their opponent. This is why most countries follow the Geneva convention. The winners dont want to all be one legged and blind when they declare "victory".

Its the best damn wine for gaming around. I have used cadega since it was called "winex" back in the day so i can explain some of their thinking along the road. I haven't used it much recetly so i dont know how much has changed. They forked wine to ad better directx support. This was basically to get directx games to run under wine. Some of the original games to get working were warcraft 3 and half life/counter strike (the original). They also have added some nice closed source code that deals with the copy protection code on games. This is why back in day day anyway there were two distributions. One was open source and free as in beer. This version didn;t work on copy protected games. The other version was downloadable ONLY as a binary but it was sinply the source pre-compiled with some secret copy protection source they added in. They worked out a deal so that they can legally bypass the copy protection as long as they did not release the source for that code.

Anyway i dont know how much has changed since i haven't been gaming on linux recently.
