The sentence contradicts itself and is layed out wrong but its a good point. Not all valuable posts are well written. The sentence should read like this:
I hate doing custom compiles on a system that doesn't have/usr/ports or emerge.
A real skilled karma whore will use some type of logical arguement to support MS or the RIAA. The mods love it when they think they are exposing an alternative opinion in order to make themselves feel better about reading a one sided site such as slashdot. Dont get me wront i love slashdot but it IS one sided. I personally disagree with most of what the RIAA and MS do so i like dont like reading what i consider bullshit (arguements supporting the RIAA and MS).
RFID tags are going to or already are being put into many over the counter medications. These are easily stolen and sold at flea markets which makes theives a lot of money. Also meny cold pills with certain chemicals are being tracked becuase of the ability to use them as a precursor in making all kinds of illicit drugs.
Its that price that makes them stolen so much. If someone steals a couple boxes of razors and sells them at a flea market they can make a few hundred dollars very qickly.
I read that Gilette is buying 500 million RFID tags and will start putting them in their razor packages. At that quanitity its sitll cheap but reduces losses. Up to 20% of their razors are stolen in a year so its worth it for them to o something.
Exactly what i meant by my post. I guess that waking, working, and sleep isn't the worst life its also probably not the best. Living in the woods isn't the worst life either. Even though you are pressured to work hard in school then college then get a job that pays a lot that might not be what makes you happy. We all got pressured to get good grades in school, why? To get a good job? Sure thats nice but is that worth all the studying? Maybe, maybe not. I think i would rather have a job i like and spend the probably less money i would make on useful shit. I will use that money for something other than buying shit to compare to what my friends have in their house.
I should hope your not having sex all day long. Where is the time to drive your sports car really fast or shoot loads of people who can hardly aim back?
I dunno man, take life as a game and it can be kinda fun. Remember nobody MAKES you pay bills. You spend the money in advance which means you need to pay bills later. You could run away and live in the woods if you really want to. Thats what makes life so great. There are much more paths of live than in EQ.
At least this world is fairly reasonable and you can figure out some of it after a few years.
Im not so sure failure is no an option. Im not suicidal but if you really think this world is no good you CAN leave. The best part about leaving is you dont know where your going.
The most important thing is thati dont know how to get to any game worlds (without a lot of drugs that is) so i dont really spend time deciding if i really want to be here.
Well im fine taking that chance. In fact i take a chance to die that is much more likely to happen almost every day i get in a car. I think i will just count on the fact that i wont need to rely on trade with aliens while im still alive.
As much as i would love to support the search for life in the galaxy sometimes its not a good idea. Although i do think that as humans we should try to search any money we put into a project like this is as good as gone and in finacial hard times like this we cant afford to throw around much.
Apparently the idea of dating is that the guy cares about her and is willing to spend money on her. She is so flattered by the fact that the guy cares abour her she is willing to have sex with him. Of course this isn't how it always works out but thats what most people like to think of dating as.
Water cooling does not make the computer put out less heat. All it does it draw the heat away from the CPU faster, A water cooled system with a radiator with put out as much heat as the same system with a fan and heat sink.
Perhaps the most plausible theory of them all is that the aliens which built the pyramids did indeed have cell phone veiwabl;e from both sides. Many scientists behind this theory believe that this is what enabled them to pull off such feats.
I am already a speakeasy customer with ADSL. I already share my bandwidth of 802.11b. I already have a couple of people walk down the street and get on my connection. The unfortunate problem is i had someone send spam from my network and speakeasy shut off my service. They dont put up with their customers sending spam which i actually appreciate. When i called them to have it reconnected they told me how to configure my linux firewall to block people from doing that. thats what i want in an ISP, i want them to be able to walk me through configureation of my linux boxes so that i can share my connection safely.
Damn if i could get a 7 digit binary system i would be very happy. As it is now i can only add and subtract to 10 but someone told me there was a way to get to 20... something with toes... ill find out eventually.
There are strains of the plant that dont contain any THC or very little at all. These are legal to own, grow, and smoke. I supose it could be kinda funny to watch someone load a fat bowl in a bong and smoke it on the steps leading up to a police station.
Its not meant to be blazing fast... jsut rock-solid. If you have a P4 3.0 ghz machine that crashes every few minutes such as win98 can do (eww p4 on win98) then your not getting much done anyway.
Isn't this one of the main benefits of open source work? Isn't the point to encourage developers to work on quality open source code that they can later advertise as their work. I thought this was how developers could be compensated for their work. I know if i work on an open source project and leave it to start my own project i would tell everyone i can what i worked on.
My post pointed out specific weak examples he used.
I did argue his points. I was trying to show that the points he make were cleary not specific and as you said his technique was based on rhetoric. Personally i dont like that style of arguement.
Alas in the end you are right. I do lose. We are all losing againt people who argue like this. I believe that it is fairly clear that when his statements are applied to real life they will not help anyone but the RIAA. Unfortunatly this type of arguement he uses manages to convince some that he is right which leads me to believe that people agree with him not becuase of his arguement but because of an ulterior motive.
This exists... its known as cold-fusion. With cold fusion we have near unlimited amounts of energy available to us. We can put that energy to use creating raw elements and we can have robots build near unlimited supply's of anything that exists. Alas my comrades this technology is held down by big oil. Becuase of their greed and addiction to money out entire race is doomed to live with limits on everything.
Ok well honestly if we could (or can;)... ) replicate anything do you think there wouldn't be anyone in the world trying to supress something like that. Now i dont buy into those conspiracy theories but it makes sense that someone has an interest in stopping something like that it would be those with something to lose. The only people who have that much to lose are the very people with the ability to supress something like that. As i said before i dont think somehting like this has happened but seeing as i am a human like anyone else i bet wonderful new technology would not be so easy.
My main point in using admittedly unusual scenarios is that this guy is making his pionts in the wrong way. He makes sweeping claims about rules, morals, and laws that dont apply to everything. If he didn't lay down phrases such as the ones i quoted maybe his arguement could be taken better. He is overgeneralizing because he knows if he gets into specifics he will lose. This is why i go beyond disagreement and point out his method of arguement is indeed downright slimy.
Matt Oppenheim (RIAA): "Unless you buy it, you should not copy it for your own use."
This is such crap. What if i make it? What if its free. Millions of exceptions can be found. What if i see artwork and try to copy it at home? Is the fact that digital copies are perfect and other artwork wont copy as well really the deciding factor if its legal? Also what about public-domain works? Unless i buy them it's unethical to copy them?
Matt Oppenheim (RIAA): "The DMCA Anti-Circumvention provision is not intended to stifle technological innovation. Indeed, it is intended to spur it on by creating and protecting business markets for new technologies."
So the intent of a law or technology is what decides if its moral/legal? What about the intent of P2P? I have yet to hear one P2P creator publicize their network for "breaking laws" or "copyright infringements".
I think that Matt Oppenheim is making really bad arguement points. Almost every point he makes can be broken down as untrue or not based on reality.

Any improvement in NTFS support?

Police knock three times. Goons knock twice and harder usually, it seems more menacing.
Actually i think it creates a reference between computers and rocketry for the word "crash".
