    The issue isn't an illegal act that can be proscuted it's an illegal act outside of the practical reach of the law. However the lack of power of the law to reach the crooks will also protect the White Hats to some extent.

    I hear these complaints trotted out every now and again. But in the 6 years I've been using it it's worked as promised. It's tied to my savings and web transactions are pulled directly. If I don't have enough in the account it will not do regular card transactions. If I do a web transaction to another paypal users it will pull the needed funds out of my account. Plus your complaint that paypal is not a bank is old data. Please consult their website and stop rehashing old rumors. http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/fdi c-outside

    I have had a paypal account for a long time, I know almost instantly what's happening on it just by hitting the website. They do have credit and debit cards as well. If I don't like a charge I am on the phone to them and they deal with it. Also a lot of online sellers are taking paypal directly.

    it went directly to the artist and was unfiltered by RIAA/MPAA. Like any middlemen they jack up the price for their "Administration fees". In this I include the Studio and Record companies as legit recipients of my money. They actually do something. I have no need to gripe about what they charge, that's not at issue. I wonder how much of an issue this would be if these guys weren't such jerks.

    Theory is nice and useful for a weekend on beach where I don't have a good net. However in practical terms I would not bother with a CS text book.

    Text books do not go to a point they are intended for training, if you want a exact relevant text go for an O'Reilly book.

    The fansub community have tacid approval from the anime producers because of self imposed policies.

    1. They make it clear that it's not an official version.

    2. They ask that the file be deleted once a US/English version is available

    3. And most important they generate interest in the titles that the producers can point to and say 'hey look at how popular that anime is on the fansub nets, we should be able to make a killing in the regular market!'

    Lawyers of that caliber are more motivated by challenges then money. Of course the money helps. An I am talking about both sides here. I don't predict that M$ will try and take down the whole project, but I think some bits will be fair game.

    and it's oh so spendy. Sadly (and this is coming from a Solaris Admin) Sun' earlier Ultrasparc cpu is not well suited to laptops. Hence Solaris x86. Linux has nothing to do with the manufacture, so they just adapt to what ever is on the market this week, but Solaris x86 has a very short HAL, That's been a Linux strength all along.

    Even in Sun there are anti-open-source elements (and even Micro$oft users). Plus it took a lot of work by those lawyers in the first place to protect Sun's IP. It made sense then and it makes sense now. Look at what happened relating to SCO. A few months isn't a big deal, I would rather wait a while and get it free of entanglements. SCO happened because somebody got careless or looked careless.

    Since they throw out bunches of these thing all pointed at a single ip, how difficult would it be to fill that site up with junk data. I use sygate on my windoze side and it tells me where it's trying to send the data. If we filled up their files with wrong data then they would waste time trying to break into accounts that don't exist and tip off the targets.

    I am logging in from a public hotspot in Spokane, as I layover on Amtrak's Empire Express. I was surprised to find a hotspot I could access from my seat on the train. Rail is great way to travel. It's costing me $125 to cross the USA from Seattle to NYC. in the event of a crash it's only about a foot to ground. Smooth but boring, I will be here for 43 hours. Faster would be better.

    At what point will gym fees be so high that crooks will cut off your thumb so they can work out. I think that somebody at the gym has been wacking off to CSI one time too many. Sure it give you proof that so and so forgot to put down the seat in the toilet but beyond that it's a friggin gym. Unless they prove you will get a Charles Atlas body in one week it's not worth it.
