To your answers to #1 and 2... I could bring the latest Stephen King 1000+ page hard cover novel, which weighs significantly more than a Kindle, and read it through the whole safety briefing, take off, climb to 10,000 ft, yet if I wanted to do the same with a Kindle, I'd be branded a terrorist.
Why not go directly to his website (when it's not slashdotted, of course), click on "Songs" at the top, and have a listen, for free, to his whole catalog (minus a few songs he wrote for other people). No need to pirate when he gives it away for free.
That's why we should get rid of income tax entirely, and move to a consumption tax. The forklift driver gets to take home ALL of his pay, doesn't have to shuffle it into stock options, and only pays taxes when he buys goods above the povertly level. Same thing with the CEO making $1MM. He only gets taxed when he spends that million dollars at the retail level, buying his new jet. If he invests it all, it isn't touched by the taxman until he pulls it out to spend.
Who are you, and what have you done with the real geekoid? This is the worst typing I've ever seen from you here... are you typing under duress? is the BSA at your company right now? Do we need to call 911 on your behalf?
Points 2 and 3 are valid, and yes, hilighting and navigating are slower than a paper book. Point one, however, you're way off base about. "Locations" in Kindle books are absolute, down to the word. It doesn't matter what text size you're looking at, location 500 will be the same on each device. So rather than Page 20, the Kindle-enabled teacher would say navigate to location 232... the students would hit menu, go to location, and type 232... just as fast, if not faster, than trying to flip to a new page in a textbook.
And the new DX is a native pdf reader, where each page is a separate item. If the book is in pdf format, the teacher can say "Go to page 20" and it will be meaningful. The screenshots on amazon.com show page numbers at the bottom of the screen where it describes pdf reading.
True, but have any Europeans died from it? Forgetting for the moment that the GP was a troll, he might actually be on to something. Create a disease that anyone can catch and then show symptoms and spread, but only kills one particular population set. It would rapidly spread globally, infecting nearly everyone, but only wipe out one population...
Sorry, I'll stop. Now, I'll go Ess-Cee-You-Bee-Ay diving, and use my El-Ay-Ess-Eee-Arr to point out neat formations. Before that, though, I think the En-Eye-Cee card in my computer is broke. Can you come fix it?
Thanks for helping me not sound like a douchebag by pronouncing "scuba", "laser", and "nic" as words.
Ever notice how much crap is also installed on Dells straight from the factory? There are trials of this, trials of that, ad-ware on the next thing... Dell doesn't put that junk on for free. They probably make more on add-on stuff than the copy of Windows costs them. When you buy a Dell with Linux installed, they don't get the kickback from all the trial garbage. Thus, it costs more to the end user.
This happened to me... I read the Apple thread, and followed simple instructions... unplugged my HP printer, and it stopped the BSOD's when I plugged in my iPhone. Most people are saying the problem is with the Apple USB drivers screwing with the drivers for HP printers and Logitech mice/keyboards. There may be other devices that cause the problem as well, but those two are the biggies.
So until iTunes 8.1 is released, I can either charge my phone or print... but not both at the same time!
No period between the sentences... that's what is being [sic]'d out.

Perhaps you've missed "I Crush Everything"? That's the only song I know of about giant squids. From any artist.
TMBG's Apollo 18 had a giant squid on the cover, but no songs about one.

Reply: Nope. Y'umpto?
Aight.
You know who else liked invoking laws?
That's right.
First off, it's "Grammar Nazis". Sorry.
Second off, you missed the word "Pay" in the headline.
Who is adding something? Google.
What are they adding? Pay.
Why are they adding pay? To cover a tax.
What tax? A tax for being gay.
As long as you read all the words, you can break it down to make sense of it.
Your post wasn't deleted, but you can't see it unless you're viewing all posts with scores of 0 and up.
Maybe you should verify before you blame... but you're an anonymous coward, so how much can I really expect?
Professional troll, is my guess.
Yup, I don't remember a single long episode arc in Enterprise...
Oh wait, the entire bloody third season!!
(which all sucked, btw) The 4th season two-parters were much better.

Hope that helps.

Oh you mean the Advanced Combined Replacing Object Name Yearly Methodology? Nope, that doesn't exist. Now, look into this little flashing light....
UFO hoaxers don't generally claim to find things that are in orbit.
I predict a "real" keyboard will show up too, to help people who don't like typing on the soft keyboard.
Yours for only.... 70 dollars?
Guess not.

My robe and wizard hat.
Maybe the transcript should have a ~ after the "desparatly needed money" comment, then we'd all know it was sarcasm!
Thanks, Geekoid! (:

Happy?
