"using a relational database to keep track of files"
I don't believe it, I've been hoping for this recently.
Could it be plausable with specialised hardware, such as the database itself stored seporately and keep tracked data seporate?
I'd really like to be able to search quicker, a linux database fs for just a few files on a seporate harddrive anyone? I can't run updatedb constantly, but if it was incremental that would be interesting.
Building a clone with linux as a x86 alternative

I'd quite fancy something non x86 for a bit of fun.
But is building a clone mac too expensive? Being able to run osX would be nice.
What's the alternative if I forgo osX and accept using Gentoo exclusively?
monopolies definately bad for economy?

Can someone please help me test my assumption that anti-competitive practices and monopolies is bad for economy.
At the moment I feel anti-competition etc should be curbed to favour the smaller companies, that competition should be encouraged to benefit the whole. Overly Marxist?
After work I used to play guitar until it started hurting.
So I played Counter-Strike for a bit. Not as painful as guitar, which was better.
If you're coding 15 hours a day I still doubt that it would be enough to get the extreme symtoms that all these reports and warning stickers on keyboards talk of.
Your whist and hands may ache like hell but it's nothing compared with random shoot pain up your arm when driving.
Whenever these `we'll tax this to discourage it` stories come out there's never the other side of the revenue flow covered.
If the exact amount of money gained from the tax is spent in a single, easily identifiable, positive way, such as PUTTING GYMS UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT, for being waaaay too expesive, you may get some support.

I also exepct it to be a trademark issue. Can anyone think of a way to communicate the idea of emulating Windows specifically?
How's about:
`SoftWinbloze - come to the dark side` or something?
Could a company use OSS projects such as bochs somehow to thier advantage? Is there a LGPL alternative?
Could a company be justifiable as supporting the code but making money from something else other than writing it, such as commercial support, additional features and a guarentee that specific programs will run.
If a project such as bochs had limits on the features it is expected to include a company can step in and add those features. Un/fortunately most of the time projects are free to out compete commercial projects. While this is a good thing it puts off proprietory dev's because they expect it to happen.
totally :)
Nevermind commercial support, can I pay for some?
I hereby patent Irony as my invented religon.
It's everywhere so much it's overpowering, and in this we take heart.
- with any old ink? or locked down i wonder?
- uses camera similar to ball-less mice?
Now admin'll install linux! ...or upgrade thier hardware :(
technically GPL isn't completely open, nor is BSD or anything with a license, but hey, there you go
isn't a real glider cheaper ;)
well, perhaps the winch / toe plane isn't
It does mislead. There isn't any usb1.1 devices are there?

Production line job, 9 hours a day.
...now that's a different matter.

Can't they CBQ limit dynamically according to what's available?
And why can't we buy per k/bit, with it limited to bands?
Too awkward? Too liberal I expect.
me too, well a bit anyway.
I don't really enojoy action. The thing I came for was the storyline.
Now, the storyline was good but there wasn't much of it in this one. Where were the suprises and tragedys? It was nearly constant action.
It feels like they've tried to draw out 2 films into 3.
Having said all this there was one scene that made all the shallowness and pretentiousness ok, much like Yoda fighting in the last Starwars.
It's a lot more enjoyable if you think you can read into it, but there's actually not a lot of depth in the end - God, Judas, the Devil, blah blah
Hopefully I'll find something new though, and the next Matrix COULD be better. At least this film has lowered a few expectations for the next.
does this mean we'll be left with only the good games designers?

An obligitory commenti.
I've never had any mobile spam.
But more and more sources are asking for my mobile number.
Sure I can resist giving it out via TV voting but at some point I'm going to make a mistake, and once it's out that's it, so ->
perhaps there is a way I can give out a temporary number, similar to temporary email services?
At present don't know anyone else using konspire, well, enough for recommendations.
So how do I get started with this thing?
but they have NOTHING right now.
let's just pause to imagine that right now...
ah.
The relationship between employer and employee is harmonious:-
they push,
you resist.
I was hoping to get away from the distractions of gaming by using linux too :p
similar to BSD ports.
/usr/portage
/usr/portage is a myiad to .build files. These are python scripts that:
./configure - make - makeinstall and similar steps.
/usr/portage too - can make own scripts fairly quickly.
portage usually goes under
you can update that dir with `emerge sync` or get a snapshot.
inside
- download the binary or source for a package
- build it
- install it
Basically portage is a dependancy and package manager and automates
It's very hands on to fiddle with
NB: portage does binary packages as well as source packages
