    ah, that's true i suppose.

    perhaps because I'm a pesimist at heart, I feel that if we do find life elsewhere that it would likely to be vastly different from our own. I expect conditions in which life might have started elsewhere to be completely different.

    The leading scientists in the search for exterrestrial life are looking for similar conditions to earth, so is it irrational for me to expect conditions to be radically different?

    I'm finding it hard to determine wether my belief is based reason or just a response resulting to my support of an open minded approach.

    I'm sure we'll find something but it'll redefine what `life` is probably anyway.

    As soon as I flashed the new rom onto my 5500 I couldn't ftp in or use qtopiaDesktop to transfer files via usbndnet,

    or using the driver I'd used before under windows.

    What's going on? I'm reading through any docs I can find now.

    Remember: I can ping 192.168.129.201 from Windoze and linux, but I can't do anything else.

    Now we can `see` into quantum (hopefully) by using week measurements (testing repeatedly to build up our confidence) ... what resources are available on this?

    This is what I know:

    Ethernet over phone cables + "dry copper pair" = technically enough to make the link....

    but ->

    phone companies don't like to give out the connections?

    How do we actually approach a company and go about this? What are our rights? - In the various counties, UK, US + Canada in particular?

    I live in the UK, with BT owning the central backbone. They did have a total monopoly(?) but hopefully has been delt with by the government agency that is supposed to keep a week lid on consolidated buisnesses / monopolies (name? is this Oftel)?

    If I could buy a dry-copper-pair connection from work -> home I'd be laughing but I'm not sure how I can and IF I can.

    So, lets swap tips and see if we can find what is possible and together we may be strong enough even to stand up for ourselves, who knows.

    Perhaps there is a tool that can intercept keycombos etc, etc to Unicode ... and can be recompiled for osX, linux etc?

    You can stop any piracy with online potentially but that just means there's less ppl to play with.

    Online gaming could be massive but you need big bucks to

    - policing/cheater fighting as a never ending battle

    - getting the power at YOUR end as much as possible to retain control; needs money.

    - ppl in west anti-social stay indoors, so PC Baangs don't work

    Cure any of these and you'd be the thing Gamespy is too aimless to be.

    Same story, ppl with money are careful withthier money :) (and why not eh?)
