  1. Re: Cheaper than wind? on World Energy Hits a Turning Point: Solar That's Cheaper Than Wind (bloomberg.com) · · Score: 1

My local power coop is filling farm land in the country with solar panels. For miles and miles you can see solar panels where there used to be soybeans and cotton. It's staggering to see so many panels. When electrical coops are putting in so much solar you know it's inevitable. The best thing about it is that during the summer when it hits 100 degrees with 80% humidity and air conditioners are running wide open the solar panels are peaking as well so when they need power the most they generate the most.

I've seen my CFLs last for years. I installed 4 in my bedroom when I moved into my current house 7 years ago and so far I've replaced one. Typically I always had to replace incandescent bulbs a couple of times a year. I have CFLs and LED bulbs throughout my house except for some fancy incandescent bulbs in a chandelier and in the bathrooms. The only bulbs I've replaced this year are incandescent. I'd buy LED/CFL bulbs just for not having to get ladders out constantly. That alone makes them worthwhile.

Perhaps he's looking for a team to consult with on climate change issues. I don't know and neither do you. Trump ran as a change candidate and it looks as if he might be the first one to follow through on that in many decades. I know you disagree but I think that the federal government is far, far too intrusive in our lives and I'd like to see it trimmed. It's overdue to be trimmed as it's only grown and grown and never shrinks at all. I doubt we'll miss some of the glut in these government agencies.

I did notice the local chic-fil-a had cars all the way around it in two drive thru lines while the McDonald's across the street had two cars in line. Supposedly (playing devil's advocate) they are telling the truth about the evidence. They are not allowed to lie about what the evidence is, only how it was obtained. Just because evidence was obtained by illegal means such as a search without a warrant doesn't mean that the evidence is untrue. There has been more than one trial in the US where officers found a murder weapon or other evidence to convict a person of murder and then the conviction is overturned, not because the evidence was wrong but the officers didn't have the right paperwork. The reasoning behind this was the protection of the 4th Amendment was more important than a few murder convictions. They've been chafing against this limitation in the law for decades. Here in the US under the UnPatriotic Act we now have secret warrants. Supposedly they have a warrant but no one can see it. Imagine that in a free society. May God damn everyone who voted for the UnPatriotic Act. The foundations of the Republic are more important than thousands of deaths. Tearing down freedom will result in Millions of deaths.

I think it's not necessary to keep shrinking everything to ridiculous proportions.

Abortion really depends on where you view the beginning of life. If you view it as starting with that first breath after exiting the birth canal then abortion is no big deal. It's hard for me to think of a fetus as not human.

Pictures that are in motion getting updated at a faster rate simply appear smoother loosing the blur that you often get at slower rates. The difference between 60hz and 240hz is obvious to the naked eye. 120hz vs 240hz is less so although on sports events I can tell it pretty easily.

  19. You don't appear to understand that the 240hz is the scan rate. Higher means less motion blur. It doesn't really affect the picture otherwise. I got it because I like to watch sports. Truly it's not significantly better than 120hz but is quite noticeable compared to 60hz. I did the research before I purchased it. I considered a Plasma display at the time because they are even better, 600hz if I recall.

I was looking at a 4K picture and it might be better than mine, hell I'm certain it is, but I can't really tell it. Considering the fact that there's very little 4K stuff available anyway I can't see paying extra but really I'm surprised how well my old 2010 set compares to newer stuff.
