    please, call them 'performers'.

    calling them artists offends those of use who create unique things. the difference:

    Performers perform prewritten pieces, often without feeling or soul.

    artists create new pieces.

    obviously there's quite a few instances of great performers (pavarotti[sp] comes to mind.) where they perform it so well, it becomes an art.

    However, I doubt this is who you made reference to.

    I've only had it fail on one machine, and it had a crappy mobo.

    If the RIAA considers it immature, then they're hypocrites.

    Anyone who considers this immature should keep in mind, the RIAA JUST ASKED for premission to do this. People need to be educated- any time you hear them say "blah blah blah that's so wrong of those evil hackers" make sure they know the score.

    It's not so much immature as it illustrated the point. if the RIAA bitches about this, well... then I think they might have just invalidated their point.

    1). make an innocent box with legal material under incorrect filenames (i.e. metallica - sandman)
    2). wait.
    3). when they attack, sue them in a class action lawsuit for harassment, stalking, and any other personal crime, sue for 10% of their yearly income.
    4). when they say that's outrageous, point out how much the court costs were of your income, not to mention the actual denial of your internet connection which you pid for.
    5). press chages for them under the patriot act or something for hax0ring your computer.

    you guys are clever, turn it against them.

    and thought it was april fools. it's just too unreal...
    question is- what do we do about it?

    would that qualify as cruel and unusual punishment? is there anything in the constitution saying the crime must fit the bill?
    Where does this leave honeypot systems and the like?

    Will this include items suchs as peeka-booty?

    This makes me want to send a 2 line email to my congressmen including these lines:

    "are you fucking retarded?
    How can you say that things like this are equivelant to this?

    But of course I'm sure it will soon be illegal to critisize our own gov't- because that will PROVE that we're terrorists.

    (Please god don't make be become a fucking political activist.)

    actually, apt-get does make it simpler, just not in a graphical way.
    I use apt-get and debian because it takes the work out of maintainence. However, I'm thinking of actually switching to another distro for my girlfriends computer just because it will be easier for her to get use to.

    The Business Software Alliance and Microsoft have issued a joint statement demanding that the Planet Earth show liscense's for all software on the 1 billion computers known to exist. Gates said he'd be more than happy to slash the price to $200/OS-copy if everyone agreed to pay in full the $200 immediately.

    I could go off on a rant here, but perhaps I'll offer the Idea to The Onion:)

    simple then, have his spec it out and give it to another developer who hasn't seen the code, much the same way AMD did with older Intel chips back in the day.

    not sure if that's clean room reverse engineering or what.

    recalling from my theory classes, I remember something about
    1) a perfect creature could not create something imperfect.
    2) if man is imperfect(like a chipped ruby), and god is a perfect(like a ray of light, what happens when you shine the light through man?
    you get a red distorted beam.
    this is supposedly how it was written, yet I think some people fail to forget man is imperfect, and even being divinly inspired, there's a chance for misinterpretation.

    of course now I'm just being an ass so I'll shut up.

    I had it forced down my throat from a lot of different people.
    I had a teacher who refused to admit there was a *slim* chance of it being possible. a science teacher.
    she also refused to mention evolution(micro or macro) because "we didn't come from filthy apes."(never forget that comment, because it was so unprofessional)

    Keep in mind this is the same school where I had a teacher tell me "the internet and computers are just a fad."(I'm not kidding)

    obviously this comment wasn't aimed towards you, it was aimed towards ZEALOTS, the ones who refuse to examine anything that might contradict with the word for word interpertation of the bible.

    I personally hope there is life out there. perferrable not-too-intelligent life, but just some weird critters. I think that would be cool. But I've had people get in my face for even saying THAT.

    perhaps I am just childish.
