I find your attack on the linux community appaling and sickening, and hope that those in charge of this horrible plot to damage the opensource community do not get golden parachutes as they drive SCO into the ground.
I am not a fan of IBM, Redhat or SUSE- however I hope these lawsuits backfire and cripple your company. This is just lame.

I think it was a combination of both.
there was very little documentation on the specific version of foxpro that it used(can't remember which version) plus the database connectivity was crappy. it took forever to guess what type it was.

It wasn't completely foxpro's fault, however it left a bad taste in my mouth:/

    ok, I gotta ask...

WHY THE HELL would you want to use foxpro, on linux or otherwise?
the last job I had needed me to interface some web applications to a foxpro database from some program that the HR department used. It might have been that the company that created this particular foxpro database didn't know how to make a database, but that was the most poorly documented, ugly and generally foul database I've ever used.
It might be more stable than access, but I'd even prefer working with an access database to that steaming pile of monkey feces.

I still give the guy +2 balls for publishing it. Howto's are made by people with an iron gut, and you sir, must have one for stomaching foxpro :)

perhaps we should have them mailing stuff out. I'd actually like to see slashdot get behind them a little more, keep it to ONLY geek related issues(no war protest/mongering).

Wouldn't it be great if they mailed a message to your congressman saying "yeah, we have the slashdot population of 300,000 behind us. do something about _______ or you'll force us to vote, and you really don't want that."

hell, if the farmers of the 1900's can do that with the populist party, why can't we? We count as a special interest group too.

A friend of mine was playing with After Effects (I think) and spliced in 2 frames worth of tubgirl(DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK!) into a movie he had just made a divx of, and brought it to a friends house to watch.

Since he knew it was coming up in a certain scene, he looked at his friend for a reaction and watched as the grin melted off of his face. I only wish I coulda been there to see his expression.

It will still be possible, just not as likely.

the only think I wish it had was more ram- it's currently got 128 megs, which is fine, but you can NEVER have enough ram:)

Now, my laptop wouldn't qualify for what he wants due to the weight(it's a brick), but my point was to look into used laptops. Toshiba's make nice light laptops.

Someone else mentioned battery life- if you're getting a laptop for $700(the price of mine) instead of $1000 buy a new battery and quit your bitching.
my battery has a life of around 2-3 hours, and I was too broke to buy a new one.

when I said my laptop was good enough, I meant it. This was the best hardware purchase I've ever made. Now I do all of my development on it, and it comes with me wherever I go- to class, the in-laws, or any other place I don't want to be.
