With a bit of maths you can get anywhere... ...have you noticed that you can do 4*2 =8
So that number would be equivalent to 80-88 --> which is then good luck in China!!
Sorry, I'll now go back to my padded room!
What concerns me is that if we do replace everyone in an orchestra with a computer, then the quality of our music produced as well as the musicians we produce will be severely crippled.
This will have repercussions that may cripple the music industry in regard to talent, and in addition will probably reduce the number of music teachres.
Uhm, hang on.
We're talking about 450GBP a week, for what 25-30 hrs worth of work? (Performance is say 3hrs + walm upstoo)
It isn't bad, especially if they teach during the day as well.
What is more interesting is which musicians they replaced. I'd replace all the percussion section, since imho that must be easiest to replace.
{WILL SOMEONE PLEASE ALLOW US TO USE POUND SIGNS!}
There is one distinct advantage of having real musicians and that is if one of the actors or whatever makes a mistake they are much more able to deal with the problem than a computer is.
Imho, good musicians will play the music very well and will also interpret the music - that means that the score is just a guide really. An example would be to listen to a good orchestra play the pink panther and then listen to a basic orchestra that just plays the notes, without interpretation or feeling. It just sounds crap.
This is the biggest pile of bull-sh!t I've seen in a long time.
How many times have you miss-typed URLs only to find that you've gone to some unfortunately placed advertising site (google is a good example). Clearly this is also a problem, since you (well at least I) assume that my typing is perfect the problem still exists. It just seems to me that this has been moved to another area.
I know that I am slightly missing the point, but cume on microsoft, address the problem!!!!!
It took a class action lawsuit before they decided that there really was a problem to begin with.
This isn't the first time they've used crappy components either.
I had to send my PowerMac 5500/275 back multiple times and it was still buggy. One thing that I've always learned is this: get a 'professional' mac, not one of the cheapo ones. i.e. get a PowerBook instead of an iBook, and get a PowerMac G5 instead of an i/eMac
Perhaps it is the extra height above the desk, so the positioning of the keyboard is better in reloation to the rest of your body. Perhaps also then posture is better too.
Arguably, this is doing the same as the UK system... keeping the kids off the street late at night.
In regard to being a good thing:
it does make people more antisocial
it does cause eye-strain (can you really take a break?)
it does cause rsi-related problems
it would help to ensure that kids can stay awake in school
I completely agree about the retailer here. If the retailer handles the goods well, it seems that the drives last longer. (this could just be a statistical problem though when you think of E(x))
With my IBM Deathstar,Norton System Works informed me of a SMART failure before it broke completely. (I was on the verge of starting to lose data at this point).
Also the IBM test reads the SMART logs, I think, to check whether there have been problems with it.
I'm not sure that you're correct there. I can see where you're coming from but I have the htaccess file set up as I decribed above.
i.e. it checks for specific sites to be in the referer.
If what you were saying were correct, if I opened a up a new blank window in IE or Opera none of my images would work? Well, that simply isn't true. Not only that but when I refresh my page the image still apears.
I'm now quite confused - I clearly don't understand and that's quite worrying. Just to check:
http://www.eaglecentre.f9.co.uk/forum/usage19may.p ng will load in a new window. I can bookmark it, close all my windows down or whatever and it will still load. I can click ctrl-refresh to refresh not-from-isp cache.:/ This all seems to work.
dynamic ips aren't used by email servers. They're normally used by isps for dial-up accounts of adsl or whatever. For business adsl or anything which requires a mail server or web server you have a static ip.
lol.
For anyone thinking of how to stop some absolute B*stard stealing your bandwidth, first of all use apache, then use a htaccess file with something like this in:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?website.com*$ [NC]
RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg|mpg|bmp)$ - [F]
Not really. Does anyone remember those massive hail stones that hit in Sydney a few years back? Were the largest hail stones recorded then?
In some of the areas I went it looked like corrugated iron had been damaged on roofs.
Actually something similar might be a very good idea.
How about this:
A single IP is limited to sending so many emails per day?
It would be complex to implement but as far as I can see is the only really effective solution (because then spammers would have to spoof ips, and this would be classed as hacking --> more prosecutions). The main problems are the way you tackle how an isp would deal with sending mail.:/ Clearly, though, one email server wouldn't send more than 100000 emails every 12 hrs for home users? (this is deliberately vague)....
fill in the gaps?
What do u reckon?
I seem to remember someone saying that the Americans attempted to use this ploy against the Vietnamese.
The vietnamese, being quite good at irrigiation, just irrgated huge areas of land, and the rain just was diverted elsewhere.
Can anyone verify this?
If you are British, then since the UK and US have an agreement, we don't need to have visas.
Whether France, along with the rest of the EU, has such an agreement, I really do not know.
I agree with you up until you starting making huge numbers of spelling mistakes.
Just because 'no one here pays attention to the speedlimit'[sic] does not make speeding correct. It also annoys me that you veel vindicated against that someone might catch you doing stuff illegally. It pisses me off even more that you try to explain yourself without absolute shite reasoning.
If you do something illegal, you should expect to be caught.
In Europe there are speed cameras everywhere, so you will get caught if you're going 7 mph over the speed limit. In some regions if you speed down one stretch of road, you can lose your license completely because there are cameras every half mile. As each one flashes you get points.
That isn't overly fair if there is a lack of concentration on the driver's point of view.
To finish off: /me slaps you into reality with a speeding fine for everytime you drove too quickly /you bursts into tears because you're now bankrupt.
The main concern is whether the author is just making it up about the Sony monitor. If he is, then can you trust what else he has written?
I have a Sony 15" LCD SDM-M51. It is really nice, no dead pixels (on any of the units that I have purchased for friends), and then digital version can be connected to the standard vga with just a conversion unit *apparently.
My only complaint is that the screen is only 15" and there's no sub built into the speakers!!;-)

Mars is colonized by 2D beings.
Does anyone else a face (upside down) on that picture?

Urrrrr. The only way to slashdot them is IF they read the article.

Well if you knew anything about macs you'd know that the trash icons he is referring to are the trash icons used in System 7 through to Mac OS 9.

And it is all the same size. With the plastic stuff... it doesn't matter if you get it wet or accidentally launder-ette it ;)
