Listen kid, some of us actually have to work for a living instead of sitting in our moms basement bashing people on the internet. You don't like my idea, please feel free to file your opinion in the circular folder next to my desk. And grow up.
Since, obviously, you are not actually teleporting the photon itself, but rather its properties. Why can't we use this as a sort of limitless instantaneous data transfer method?
I.E. Use the manipulation of these properties to single a sort of photonic 1's and 0's (or potentially much more, possibly instead of binary, it might be possible to make it trinary, or better).
Think about it, you put a pack of these entangled photons into a sort of "storage" device, stick it on your next mars rover, and instead of there being a huge delay, your commands are sent instantaneously.
Obviously eventually these entangled photons would be all used up (or could you continue to modify them after the first time?) but still, rovers, for example, are a consumable at this point too.
Something oddly erotic about the mixture of technical speak with terms such as "smash" and "throw things at it"....if you could work in "bash", "wreck", "smoosh" and "pulverize we'd be in buisness!
Considering all the other things the web is used for I would call this more than novel. This is, imho, exactly what the WWW SHOULD be used for. Not a bunch of "Dear Diary, it's raining out and I am sad." blogs. A real, substantive use of an advanced communication medium to complete a worthy goal. It may be semantics, but I think its anything but a novel use....
That doesnt change the fact the it should not have been on the road. just because someone finagled them into allowing them to drive on the road, doesnt mean it should have happened.
I gaurantee you a car like that would never pass REAL road tests. For precisely this reason.
the idea behind special exemptions is that the number of them will be so few, and the drivers hopefully trained well enough, that the chance it will come back and bite them is minimal. As we see today, minimal, but not zero.
You know, if my GF4 Ti4200 had SLI capabilities that would make my life much easier right now. i could step up the whole level of graphics performance in my system by a VERY noticeable margin. i look forward to these new cards because it means by the time my $200 video card is going the way of the dodo I can shel out $75 or whatever and add a second one and viola, extended life.
No, what made Firefly great was the FANTASTIC writing, man, the dialogue and banter on that show was great. It had a hell of an attitude and the writing to back it up:) That other stuff didnt hurt though.
Yeah if i didnt know it wasnt spliced I don't think I would have been able to tell. It was just a light, funny episode that really exemplifies one of the reasons I like ST (sometimes....I'm far from its biggest fan on many days.)
To date my absolute favorite episode of Deep Space 9 was the Trials and Tribbleations episode, now, granted, they spliced them into an old TOS episode, but still.:)
Has an article about magstripes in the issue thats on newstands now....including sample code/diagrams for using readers and writing your own apps....fwiw
Actually the biggest reason the XBox hasnt caught up is because the PS2 had a MASSIVE head start. Most sales figures indicate that MS's first console outperformed Sony's first console by leaps and bounds. And not everyone is as stringent about their backwards compatability needs as you are. Honestly, I have played nor had the desire to ply a PSOne game since....well, before the PS2 came out....
Actually thats not the same site. The windowsupdate.microsoft.com link takes you to windows update. The link specified above takes you to a catalog page where you can search for updates by OS....very specifically by OS (like, Windows 2000 RTM, or XP 64-bit Enterprise).
However I will say that http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/en/ isn't exactly a horrible naming scheme....pretty much just the version of the web app, windows update, microsoft.com, duh, catalog and english....not too hard....and if you goto windowsupdate.microsoft.com it will pop in the v4.blahblahblah crap so its really not a huge leap. But its MS so....BOOOOOOOO SCREW YOU BILL GATES!!!!....Hey, I got a quota to make.
Is for Mr. Schrage to come along with me on my job interviews and explain these things to prospective employers....it seems about 50% of them actually put stock in these laughing....stocks....
I don't think they realize how many courses there are out there that teach people to memorize the big stuff, pass the exam a couple hours later and thats that....meanwhile a week goes by and they have 0 knowledge of the subject they are certified in.
Now I'm sure that some of the people who take these courses walk away with a little bit of permanent knowledge but whos to tell which ones? Are we to assume none of them took anything away? Then its moot, are we to assume they all took a small amount away? Still doesn't seem right.
My suggestion, if you want to make them a little more relavent, require refresher tests every 6 months....bump the fee up another $25 (for tests like the A+) and have a cutback, random sub-section of the test questions, make it a quick test so people don't have to devote alot of their free time to it.
Or, better yet, rely on actual work experience. Either way, the system as it is is nothing more than a good way for "trainers" to earn a living....
Absolute incredible tripe posts like this (as of the time I write this) are not modded into oblivion....
Seriously, your post reads like a manual for how to be a completel jackass with absolutely no base in reality....
It sure is good you posted ANYTHING to back up those wonderfull images of allies running over crops, raping wives and daughters and basicly being horrific monsters....I really hate you.
Is when people counter the "I don't use Linux because I'm not that adept concerning computers." argument with "well it wouldn't kill you to learn more about your computer."
This is true, but I am a Windows user for a long time now (still run Linux on my server) and I haven't had a computer virus in AGES (at LEAST 6-7 years).
Because I have a firewall, I don't use IE or Outlook, and I keep stuff patched.
The point? If you learn more about your computer you can make Windows alot safer. and I guarantee you it wont take as much learning/suffering as it takes to get started in Linux on the desktop. Not to mention patching my Windows machine is as simple as running windows update....my linux server? Well, depending on what were talking about it could be as simple as downloading an RPM or, and this is the fun part, updating something from source....either way its nowhere near as easy as updating Windows....hopefully someday it will be!
The fact that its his job to be a dick doesnt cease to make him a dick.
Bitch bitch bitch, whine whine whine, greedo shoots first.
Dear lord, get over it....you should be HAPPY, hes meeting you in the middle.
Ugh.

Nifty! Too bad i can no longer mod in this thread. :(
Someone give this man a cookie, he is 100% correct!
Where can I get one of these laser knees?

Thats why God (At least I'm sure he thinks he is) gave us Group Policy :)

Yeah, give it up, I don't think they care....honestly neither do I at this point....just glad I dont pay for /.

No, we have no-one to blame but the lawyers and the greedy SOB's who hire them.
In a word....no, not unless you want to rely on symantecs to win your debates.
