Seriously, opera allows the same "do whatever the hell you want with this software" attitude of open source, yet they keep the usability of a company that actually wants to make money. Give it a whirl and you'll be surprised.
Accepting death as a defeastist attitude is only possible if you see death as an end or something negative. If it is not an end, but simply a transition, then perhaps aging is a way to desire that transition. If it is only a transition, then it is not negative, in fact, it could be viewed as positive and an exciting proposition.
Before you get worked up over my answer and my "new age" philosophy, remember that Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism all contain this same thought.
Exactly my thoughts. Although I will never use the PSP as a pda simply due to it's size, I may purchase it. My NZ-90 I currently own is a beast and I love it, but it's about time for an upgrade and I was looking at going with Sony -- guess it's time to look at PocketPC again...
Check out their website: http://x104.fm There is no way that Blazin' Seattle's New Hip-Hop and R&B is indicative of an educational program. Their DJs are not high-school kids, and I don't think it should be given any preferential treatment. John, respond if you will...
Commonly coffee intended for espresso is roasted a little darker than coffee intended for drip, but it doesn't have to be.
Have you ever tried making espresso with a light blend? It's total and utter crap. Not only is it not as rich and smooth, it's bitter and tastes more like a bad shot than a decent cup -- and theres nothing you can do to fix it. Seriously, go try some Latin American coffee and grind it for espresso and get ready to just throw up.
All good, but they let the coffee stale before they use it.
Annndd...wrong. They never say anything about "aging the bean" -- whoever told you that is just plain wrong. Yes, using beans as soon as they're roasted is a good thing, however, it's even more important to have a better bean and a better roast. So Starbucks has decided to make sure a better bean and roast are in place.
You know, this could help geeks out. Imagine if there was a game based on the ability to get your girl off -- it'd be great training and just think of the bragging rights you'd have: "I'm a level nine pussy eater!"
What is the use of calculators? This is the main struggle with teachers these days with two camps. One says you should be able to do everything by hand (as every good mathematician should) and the calculator is simply a guide for some of the tougher problems. The other realizes that most people taking math classes these days are not going to be studying math for the next 8 years, and it is not their passion. Thus, they use the calculator to explain concepts and it is the use of this tool that allows them to do extraordinary math problems that they would normally balk at.
IMHO, this is how a lot of nerds feel about cliff notes in English, that they will never see literature again, so it doesn't matter. Everyone in their own part of life thinks people should know it better, yet everyone cannot know all of the above. Accept that some people don't care about math, and help them use tools so that they may find a new hobby -- programming their calculators;)
Another thing to avoid like the plague if you want to run linux is Serial ATA. My main rig has two of them running in raid 0, and it runs beautifully in Windows -- doesn't even get recognized in linux. In fact, I can't even get knoppix to work...
So be aware of that...
The problem is that we seldom build cities. Cities morph -- especially in our suburban mindset we've have for the past century or so. Cities have in fact become more sprawling simply because of our transportation. So trying to "build" a city that is counter-culture will not only be tough, but not popular.
I know an AC already pointed this out, but how can you blame Bush for your lack of a job? First off, my guess is you are in the tech field since you're on slashdot, so it's probably safe to say you rode the dot com bubble. Ok, so you made your money, had your job and now you don't. It's not the president's fault that the dot com bubble burst. In fact, we were already seeing signs of the bust while Clinton was in office, and yet you don't seem to point any fingers at his administration and their lack of ability to ease out of the tech bubble.
If you weren't in tech circles then, it's a similar proposal. If you look at economics, you'll see that in everything there is a cycle. Although you don't like it, our economy not only expands, it contracts simply because of how capitalism works. Bush has done several things that are the economics equivalent of overclocking -- it works if you don't push it too hard, and by golly, it worked! Yes, jobs are still not expanding, that's due to the increase in productivity -- it gained something around 7% this past year which is absolutely phenomenal. Also, as you know from slashdot, outsourcing is becoming a huge issue -- mostly for blue-collar jobs but we're starting to see it in white-collar jobs. However, on the whole, the economy is pulling out, doing well, and is recovering nicely. I'm not going to comment on Bush's political issues, but economically he's had to deal with a lot, and he's done a pretty good job considering.
Now hopefully you'll read this and it's not all in vain, but that's how life is. Hopefully someone will understand that just because they don't have a job doesn't mean it's anyone else's fault.
I wrote a journal entry in which I discussed this very scenario. http://slashdot.org/~lpret/journal/39435 Mind you , this was July 15th, quite a few months ago...
The PDA market has been growing as always. As I outlined in a journal entry, I make the point that there are different levels that people want. I personally have a cellphone with simple PDA functions (Sony Ericcson T616), a PDA with everything but the kitchen sink (Sony NZ90), and a monster desktop. However, my PDA is used more for browsing the internet on wifi or taking pictures with the 2 megapixel camera. I think a handtop unit such as this would be good for college students like myself -- *if* the screen had a stylus and it ran Windows Tablet edition. Anyways, it's a very viable option, but they need to get it out much much faster before Sony comes back with a new version of it's Picturebook.
Hmm, I currently havea 19" crt and i'm thinking of getting a setup like yours...however simply so that winamp and other such applications can sit on the lcd.
Second question, how does linux do with a second monitor? does it take any further customization?
I completely agree. There are times I simply don't bother sitting on hold for 3 hours (as I have done more than once!) to contest a 15 dollar issue. I hate their contracts and everything about them, but -- I got a really tight handset and their service in my town is the best of all the providers (except Cingular, and now it doesn't matter!). Hopefully their customer service will improve a little. Maybe...
Woah, i completely forgot about that game. I remember building cities in SimCity just so that I could wreak some serious havoc on the streets. If I remember correctly, the point was to be a firefighter and get to the scene, or paramedics or whatnot. It was pretty entertaining...*looking through old games for it...nope...*
They took aar jaaaawbs!

My phone can send text messages to whole groups of people -- like my whole address book. So I could easily send 100 texts with one click of a button.

Yet, that's what several here say about the music industry.

Neither do the oil companies...
Or maybe you have Firefox with mouse gestures...

Why not use M2 -- the e-mail client built in to Opera? It's revolutionary usability makes it an easy choice.
wtf? she's not that hot. How about the PHP girls?
You got it totally wrong, BSD is dying!!!!1
