    Usually, the violent people at protests are not protesters at all, but opportunists hoping to get a chance to loot. Carrying such a sign will get them to attack you, causing the very chaos they seek. The looting and destruction will then ruin any message the real protesters were trying to communicate. Your sign would amount to yelling fire in a crowded theater.

The good thing about free and open forums is that even cretins like you are free to have your say. It gives the literate a good laugh.

    NPR, and the rest, should accept that the web is a forum that belongs to the public domain. Attempts to propertize it will cause an extreme backlash. I only wish there would be legislation to reaffirm what has been the case from the moment the internet was open to the public. The web belongs to us all. If you want to protect your "Intellectual Property" Publish it the old-fashioned way, in print.

    I would love it if there was an alternative to Broadwing(formerly Cincinnati Bell) in Cincinnati. Their prices are way too high. Monopolies stink. I would also like an alternative to Insight Cable. They really stink too, so I just use an antenna, and watch broadcast TV, but that's another story.

    Do we really need different colors on money for different denominations? Don't most languages aroung the world use Arabic(really Indian, but that's another story)numerals? Can't tourists read these? I know some countries even have different size notes for different denominations. That makes them a pain to fold and put in a wallet. This proposal will meet some static from people who think it's just plain silly, but not as much as their plan to introduce the new 69 dollar bill with Clinton's face. http://www.uncoveror.com/clinton.htm

    Americans use nautical miles becuse we don't understand the metric system. The right wing kooks used to think it was a communist plot, and rednecks still do. Most of us, in fact, don't know if a nautical mile is the same as a regular mile, a "country mile," or "a mile as the crow flies." It's mostly ignorance, not arrogance.

    This reminds me of the late 70s (or was it early 80s) TV movie that became a series, S.A.L.V.A.G.E. in which amateur rocketeers built a rocket in a junkyard and went to the moon. I was a little kid then, but the show was cool! IF CSXT can pull this off, they should start a satellite launching business. They would probably do a better job than NASA, considering it's new cost cutting plan.

    I like the wayback machine's reason for being: preserving history. In 20 or 100 years, it will be very valuable information. I found old copies of my website, The Uncoveror there. It relly took me back. What I didn't like, though, is that it tried to force-feed me spyware, namely Gator and Bonzi Buddy. If the Spyware and ads were removed, then it would be a true historical archive; the kind real historians, and students can use for research. With the garbage on it, however it has little, if any, academic value.

    Here is yet another example of the federal government's aspirations to be big brother. Since 9-11, almost nobody will stand up and oppose this stuff.     When companies aquire other companies to create the illusion of growth, these things happen. Now Compaq has been gobbled up themselves. Ironic. It's good that Alpha will have a second coming as Itanium II. I wonder how many other great things have been simply discarded as a result of predatory mergers and aquisitions. I wish Palm would put BeOs back on the market, I wish someone who would have done something with it, IE not Gateway, had bought Amiga after Commodore went bust. I am starting to rant now. Guess I better stop.

    While giving customers a choice between Lindows and Mandrake is a nice idea, too many choices will just confuse people. A customer who can't make up his or her mind will delay his or her purchase, if not cancel it outright. Wal-Mart needs to avoid throwing the KISS principle out the window.
