I wonder if this process will work on ALL circular type locks? Another post here suggests you need to shake the lock a little.. with my luck the machine will tip over and kill me

so? Windows has been around longer, has a 95% market share on the desktop. So in good ole statistical terms you don't measure up.
Exactly. I also get sites that come up saying "are you searching for foo? I like foo too. good luck finding foo. If you find good information about foo questions, let me know."
Complete BS results. They seem to be getting worse and I'm not as thrilled with Google as I once was.
Seems like in the last few months, Google searches have turned up other "search engines" as a top result or 4 out of the top 5.
So, as an example, I search for "foo" and most of the top results lead me to another (crappy) google like site with it's own results for "foo". The feeling I get from those sites is similiar to those crappy sites you end up on when mis-spelling a URL.
Screw the stack of paper... ABOUT THE SAME PRICE?

I remember drolling over those things at the local Mac store... incredibly expensive. Still are relatively.
Seems like I have witnessed the downfall of my only childhood toy (save a bike). Once legos involved hours of building.. stacking little peices together to form only the boat's haul. Now you get a boat and it comes with the haul peice, the mast peice and the rudder peice. Oh yeah the little figure with the 5'oclock shadow and eye-patch.
Where's the imagination and ability to shift around that? I loose the freedom to go my own direction. all the set levels have gone this direction over the years and I miss the old 40 page manuals and endless posibilities you could do on your own after that.
It was a rack of servers and I hit the power button on the WRONG server. However, I noticed this while I was doing it and... I held it down knowing that if I released it, EVERYONE would loose their work (300 users I was on the file server not the backup domain controller machine) -Just like a landmine... pick your foot up and the bomb goes off. Too far from the phone, I stood there for 20 minutes before I could flag someone else down but they couldn't get into the room (locked and they can here me through the glass). They tracked someone else down 10 minutes later, and then they gave a 30, 20, 15, 10 and 5 minute warning before releasing me and the button. Of course, by the time this all happened, about 20 people got to stand there and laugh at me... I can't really move.... ugh.
No offense but Slashdot has been an OSS/Linux-centric board from its inception
Well, may be true but, I'm not a "fan" of MS. It's just what I know. Simply by saying 'MS still has X better IMHO' shouldn't earn me of anyone else a sour look. It's an OPINION. I'd say learn from other OPINIONs rather than attacking them/their preferance and perhaps you'll win them over. MS may not be open source but, their ideas are open to be learned from. Why would I want to care about what Linux offers if there's no seat at the table?
It's not? I dunno.. I have become more and more jaded against slashdot as of late. Most of my posts get modded down or I get bitched at for actually prefering MS. It's not really MS for me.. it's the applications and, well, I know it. I can identify with the tweaking coolness that linux is... for me that was once DOS. Granted Linux offers 10 times the coolness NOW but back then it was the best I had. Now I'm familiar and I feel like I'm on the freakin dark side. for me it's about getting it all to work togther. the most vocal part of the linux community seems out for blood. That attitude I get spooks me off and it's a crappy thing to do. I understand the goofing around but these guys are boarderline violent about it. I could be wrong but... I imagine its the same feeling the MS gave off back in the late 80s to mid 90s. i'm just rambling now...
You guys have a file open dialog box? What's next? I can't believe you rejected my article on MS teaming up with Nitendo on Xbox II. I know griping about that is generally off limits but what bullshit is this???
Sneaker net has taken over P2P. I thought I had a descent collection of 14,000 tracks when I started meeting people who also have descent collections at holiday parties. make that 70 or 80,000 tracks within a month ++.
I think the damage is done and RIAA can do NOTHING about this. The network shall rebuild itself underground until new online methods occur. The rate of this method certainly exceeds previous options.
While it may be true I end up with a ton of music I don't care about, I'll also be exposed to stuff I wouldn't have ever seen if it were my choice. Cometh the age of portable USB 2.0 drives and DVD burners. horay!
Yeah, right! Forgot your password? Just hit cancel. There's security for ya.
A nuiscense to deal with, but less vulerable to every gaddamn worm ou there
You know I loose all confidence in you folk who just bash MS with nothing to show for it. How come I have 500 XP machines on the network of which ZERO have been hit by "every gaddamn worm ou there". I don't/have not/see no need to run Linux so I won't bash your OS but lay off what I have to support while you obviously have no experince. You guys get worse every day. Earlier/. posts an article about time wasted patching MS software and you guys have a field day. I'd like to add up the negative energy you waste bashing MS and see how it pans out against you. I don't understand how Linux gets as far as is does with such a immature group of children. I'm turned off by you people. Personally I wouldn't switch because I don't want to be part of such a "community". If you guys want respect, I suggest you tone it down and stop throwing stones at a sinner while swearing up a storm. In MY eyes and certainly my Boss's eyes you're worse than Gates.

Tell them to buy you a cell phone. That kills the "personal" part of the policy. I wouldn't pay to take work calls anyway.
On the other side and closer to your original artical title. I don't support ANYTHING that Joe User brings in from home.
"Say my kid just gave me this Palm 3 for Christmas, please hook it up and support it for me now."
Yeah right. Nor do I accept personal laptops on my network, business card readers, USB cell phones, blaa blaa blaa. Personal? That's nice... bu-bye.
Do I have to buy a new machine to get the upgrade?

always is. Unless they are talking about the xbox offices....
You linux weenies are just jealous.
I hear those are safe too.. and just as useful to me in my busniess as a Mac.
Damn straight. I'd like to see how Linux will prevent it's software from being used this way. You MS haters have gone too far.

You sir, are an idiot. Islam is a peaceful religion that has unfortunately inspired some dorks to become terrorists.
yes yes... I see the kindness radiating from you post.

It'd be terribly annoying if UI ideas were patented and we had to have a bunch of half-assed environments
yeah. Every finger pointed is one less developing. *sigh*
no one cares about "team ups" relating to products that dont exist?
But mock ups of a file open dialog box is news? Come up out of the hole.
The goal is *NOT* to kill Microsoft Windows

You forgot to add: Whaaaaaaaaa
Now linux steals and it's dandy. Ooooh the hyprocsy.
What wonderful people you are.
The 18 month bettery life can be updated for only $89 as opposed to the $99 price tag on the regular iPod

Except w98 is safer on an open network than XP.

I should do a study about how many hours you linux sheep spend bitching about MS. MOVE ON PEOPLE.
