You can afford to 'lose' thousands in crypto currency when all you're really doing with it is buying a few real dollars worth of pot or using it to launder money.

Oregon needed more money and they couldn't get it from the rich in the form of income tax so they're getting it from the poor by taxing bikes. The $200 limit is obviously an attempt to blunt the worst effects on the poor (you can get a decent used commuter for under that) but it'll still hurt some.

If Gawker really was just an entertainment rag this wouldn't be an issue. But then again, if they were just an entertainment rag they wouldn't have gotten shut down by a billionaire and his money.
For what it's worth Gawker did lots of good journalism and funded it with shlock. They were one of the last sources of political muckracking of the kind that exposes the worst of our system. And we just lost them. If you think we're not worse off for it you haven't been paying attention.

What they didn't realize is that they were the target of a destructive campaign. We in America just had our legal system used to shut down a pretty significant group of Journalists. Gawker did a _lot_ of good journalism and funded it all with their tabloid shlock. People on this forum are massively underestimating what we lost and just how frightening an abuse of power this represents...

While a capitalist declined to order some cat scans for said family member because they were afraid they wouldn't get paid if the scans came up negative and caused lots of complications.
