  1. Great, just what I needed on Sony's Memory Stick TV Tuner at CeBit · · Score: 3, Interesting

How about getting some decent programs on TV before any more money is spent on the technology? Is there anything (besides maybe The Simpsons) on broadcast TV worth watching? Except for Adult Swim, and some of the channels like TLC, TechTV, Animal Planet, I can't find anything to hold my interest. Wireless web provides me much more entertainment.

I've had friends who have had to do this to make ends meet. The key to this business is speed, so if you really want to make it ineffective, keep them on the phone as long as possible. Doesn't matter to me, I haven't had a land line since the last millenium. =P

How about suing the bullet manufacturer for failing to kill your target? This story is about a hunter who failed to kill a lion and is now suing the bullet manufacturer. Can I sue FastTrack if I downloaded the faked Madonna songs?

  7. Re:Episode 2 on Matrix Sequels To Get the IMAX Treatment · · Score: 1

I saw it on an IMAX screen, the second biggest problem I had is that the action on the screen took up more area than I could actually focus on at once, so I could only catch about half the action on-screen at any given time. The biggest problem was the dialogue, especially between natalie portman and anakin.

Anytime, it has to be one of the most noticable performance increases. It is too bad that 2000 has a minimum of 2MB. One of the love / hate things about Microsoft is that they do tend to eventually add all the features you want, but there is usually no chance of getting them in any but the latest and greatest version.

I'm amazed that posting trollish statements to piss people off is still effective. Even if the person is actually a rabid racist, and not just a rabid troublemaker, posting on slashdot has to be the least troublesome racist activity he can do. Pick your battles, don't let posts on a message board get under your skin.

Which would interest you more, receiving a very small royalty for every download, or, for example, knowing that while someone downloaded a song by you, or by an artist similar to you, they were treated to a stream of your new music? Would that mandatory, targeted exposure be enough for you? Do you think that type of exposure would be reflected in album sales?

  18. Broadcast News on Tragedy, Media and Marketing · · Score: 1

The Daily Show had an ABC reporter on discussing this very kidnapping, and she said that if the victim isn't pretty enough, or the footage isn't compelling enough, it will not get airplay. Jon Stewart pointed out the difference between TV and newspapers, that a newspaper will print a story on page 50 that is the lead for TV news. Lack of footage does not affect the importance of stories in the newspaper. I'm guessing that he would except The New York Post and all tabloids from that.

Very true, but don't count out monster.com.

I found my job (IT Manager) through them as well, and TMP Worldwide, the parent company, signs my checks for another couple of weeks. I also had good luck with dice.com. I got my interview due to experience, which I got through personal contacts. Just take anything, and be nice to everyone, you never know who can help you out.

This might sound crazy, but the most immediate hits I ever get are for Mac jobs, nobody wants them (including me), but this job was listed as a Macintosh job when they account for 1.5% of the desktops. It's amazing how inaccurate job listings can be.

I'm curious as to how I can go to see Paul Oakenfold (world's biggest DJ according to Guiness), opening acts, visuals done by Darren Aranofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream), opening acts, sound systems that makes the cement floor bounce, phenomenal lighting / effects at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, which has to cost more per person than venues in smaller towns, and only pay 35$. Is the show that expensive?

I used to go to raves all the time, never really paid more than 25$, and some of the acts there make a lot more money than indy artists. Any theories as to why this is?

Here's my favorite quote from the article: Even in a tub having a perfectly symmetric drain, the circulation direction will be primarily influenced by any residual currents in the bathtub left over from the time when it was filled. It can take more than a day for such residual currents to subside completely.

You should check out the residual air currents in my toilet.
