I like Logic in alot of ways, but I really hope that they have fixed the unholy combination of the G5s, OS X, Logic, and Digidesign (TDM) hardware. From what I have seen this is nothing but crash crash boom! If that indeed does work well, with this new distributed audio, I might have to switch from Protools to Logic.
My only other reservation with logic, is that it's still not 100% easy to swap drives with Protools users. I simply love protools for the fact that I can next day (or Digitransfer... which is a overpriced secure FTP box) a hard drive to any studio in the world, and assume that they have a Protools rig that can open it, and I can drag my iLok key with me, and have all my plugins on a CD or USB key, and have all my plugins legally on any system i touch. Not bad. It reminds me of some time ago when I could send a 2" tape theoritically to just about any studio, or a few years ago ADATs anywhere.
My next big project is all in Protools and on 2" synced together, and the session is going to be done some at my place, some in LA, and mixed god knows where, and mastered god knows where. It needs to easily be transportable. But if they can get some way to save as a basic protools file from logic, i'd love it!
While i'm not terribly familiar with the history, haven't asians also had their fair share of oppression/slavery at times? It just makes me wonder why they have never been held back at all, as many of the countries have been in major wars with losses, and haven't been seen as equal either, but yet they do just fine (if not better) in some cases than whites
They'd hate to know that they were pretty much the same thing, just like a KKK member would hate to know that his ancestors might have been black, etc...
These are pretty much standard issue at Berklee and i'd stay that 60% of the population has iPods, and it's growing every time students get their loan checks..
Two Modems, Two phone lines, dial them either straight to each other, or better yet... into an ISP.. that will give a great simulation. Perhaps even dial up one of them to an East Coast number, and another to a West Coast access number.. Should do the trick
I hate the lack or printed manuals. Only really expensive software seems to include any printed manuals (Protools TDM had quite a few thankfully).
I have a version of "The Microsoft Office" in a large grey box, that has alot of massive manuals still sitting around here somewhere. I don't know why they won't print them anymore.
Linux is just as bad about this as anything. Sure there's typing 'man' or using the howto's, but it's not like using an AS/400 or other server that actually has a whole bookshelf of manuals.
Well I know some states don't really have that much of a statutue for self defense set up (which is backwards).
But how many people who actually USE (pull the trigger) of a handgun, are doing it legally? Shooting another person isn't legal, and that's the purpose of a gun...
Only thing I can think (being a Boston resident), is that in the Winter, it would be a cold day in hell before they'd pass something outlawing things to cover your face/head.
I quite often wear ski masks/hoods/goggles/etc to protect my face from the -30 windchills that we get here Dec-March.
Yea, the problem is that some of the behaviors in IE, just like where the typing cursor is when he opens a new window, and a few other small things (fleet bank doesn't seem to like safari, and if i remember a comcast site didn't for activating our cable modem). He's kinda the type of guy that if one or two things in a product bother him, and there's a good alternative, he uses it. I'm not thinking that IE is a good alternative to anything, but he's stuck on it.
You point about hourly loss doesn't actually affect us too much, though (that I know of). We have a second workstation in the back that 's just for extra editing and synth programming, that we mainly use to check email, or in case the mail one goes belly up. It's just got a Digi001, but our main system is Protools HD1. And good guess, we vary between 40 (rappers who are broke, and basically give us lunch money), to $60 an hour... I'd advertize the think, but I'm not going to be a shameless ad tonight.
I'm currently trying to get my boss to use Safari (recording studio with all G4's). He got stuck on using IE back in OS 9.x, and just isn't a 'computer person'. If his banking site doesn't work well in Safari, or something doesn't look exactly like IE, he doesn't like it. My simple idea so far is just to remove his permissions to IE
.... is what it said when I first clicked on comments? Oh, and like it's a big suprize to any of us? Bush et al lied!
So speakth the AC...

Any ideas about what happened right after the engines fired? It looked like it was falling, and then stablized....
I can only hope it's ok, I thought that it was going to crash for a few...
Now if we could only figure out a way to extradite the Nigerian Spammers...

You'll stick out as an odd one then. I hope you like macs!
But there's no Federation (or other) Insignia that you hit, and it doesn't make the cool StarTrek sound...
They'd hate to know that they were pretty much the same thing, just like a KKK member would hate to know that his ancestors might have been black, etc...
Yea, but I want the cool thing to wear on my shirt.... hey that's a good idea for a cellphone company :)

You can do some amazing audio programming with Max/MSP. You should be able to write something that takes the file and cuts it up just right.
Either that or CSound (www.csounds.com) should be able to take care of it (and it's free/multiplatform, and easily expandable in C++)
People pirate crap all the time, just look up N'Sync on any filesharing service...
Good enough for government (or Enron) accounting... He's just learning young in university!
Wonder if they'll tell us all that the game will ship for three platforms in one box again to get us all to preorder?
Oh wait, or maybe they'll just keep the Mac prices jacked up to $50 when you can find it for PC for $30!
Or, maybe they can give away the linux version free again for people who have Windows too, and still screw the mac user!
Since I type around 80wpm, and I can program? I'll even work for 10% less! Nearly 3x as much coding for less? Whoo!
Are you saying Microsoft Office is cheaper now? No, i'd say Billy boy is that much richer

I know that most people who actually USE their handguns use them illegally to shoot someone.

He really wanted to say, that he hoped Open Source would kill Steve Jobs...
