It seems like everyone on slashdot is only looking for reasons it is useful to them. Put away your icr and web browsing thoughts for a minute.
Let's think broader. Lets think about the commercial use for a feature such as true transparency. I currently develop Air Traffic Control software for the US. I work on the display software that had to be written with the MOX (multiple overlay extenstion) extension to X. But we needed to have a vendor deveop a very expensive card to actualy be able to do the transparency. We have requirments to display the tracks (aircrafts) over anything else on the display. All of our windows therefor have to be truly transparent because they all have a different visual priority. I belive there are many other commercial uses for this too in real time monitoring. If there was linux support for this there would be a much bigger push to develop some of these big money project on linux boxes. This would be a major cost saver for software companies and a big boost for linux.
The Swiss are all about Holes huh? First Swiss Cheese, Now This!
Did you know that they invented Donut Holes as well. No Actually a man names James Vindenhaffer broke into the Duncan Donuts research facility and went through all of the garbage. He first tried to glue all the Holes together to make new donuts but after being frustrasted with their odd shapes decided to leave a good thing untouched.
This is where Jamie BrickenHymer took over. After buying a holeless Donut from a Donut shop in Clevland Ohio he wondered where all the other Donut Holes went. Little did he know that he was being bugged by Micrsoft. 3 Days later Microsoft had the patent for the Donut Hole and sold the Rights to Dunkin Donuts for 43 Billion Dollars.
I have always said that Once Microsoft Rules the World things will go much smoother. If anyone has a problem with anything (SPAM, Computer, Entertainment center, fridge, toilet...) there will only be one support line!
This May Sound Naive. But anyway. Is there any way that people could ban together to fight these spammers.
It would have to be legal too. Something like reply to all these spam emails. If thousands of people sent emails back to the spammers wouldn't that cause some sort of Bandwidth/Server space problem for them? I know this probably sounds stupid but I am just so fed up with this shit.
What if there was a website that posted a couple of spam email addresses every day. Then people could go to this web site and email the spam addresses. If we could get millions of people to email these addresses wouldn't it cause some sort of problem? I don't know just curious.
Who cares about Organizing Sim Protests????? Ohh scary protesters are not going into my FAKE IMAGINARY MC Donalds! Who the Hell cares.

I'm a software person myself but I must rebut your post on the Behalf of any Hardware people out there.
One would say that this person in your computer lab is in fact a knowledgable individual. I never even thought of turning the Monitor on it's side to read landscape documents. I actually think that is a fine solution.
You my friend should be a little less narrow minded. This person simply used a hardware solution to solve his dilemma. These problem solving people that you speak of (like yourself) only use software to be creative?
As the orignial poster of this Ask Slashdot said: He is looking for people who have abilities in a wide spectrum of subjects. Open Your Mind Man, Software isn't the only thing that makes a Computer Work!
I know of one very good application for this.

that I just made up.
Every 1 line of code Micro$oft adds to a product to fix a bug causes 3 other lines of code to break!
I promise that the fact is 100% made up!
I thought all Microsoft products were beta versions!
I don't think my windows box would crash 3 times a day if I was running a final release version of 98.

Sprint relocated the due-date on Sprint bills making is more difficult to find the "pay by" date
Why don't you just pay your Bill when you get it?
Your complaints seem pretty petty to me. Sprint's service is the cheapest and works almost as good. QUit you're bitch'n.
Any suggestions out there for a cheap and reliable web hosting service. I am looking to get some space but there are so many choices out there.
