Great speakers if you don't wanna fork out $400 for Klipsch 5.1 speakers. If you're lookin' for a review, here's a great, really detailed review of the speakers.

Is it a media center, or a gaming system? That's the entire reason the price is so high. I'm sure they could pull off the same system, with all the same features, running off a VIA chip, or even a Celeron or Duron, and a cheaper videocard. Until they do that, they won't sell to many of these.

Copy protections such as this, do nothing more then piss the average user off.. A year or so back, an RTS called Emperor: Battle for Dune came out, and when I finally BOUGHT the game, I brought it home, only to find that the setup program wouldn't load, giving me some error about the cd being a copy. After screwing around with it for an hour or so, I called the game's tech support line.. (Which was long distance, naturally..) After waiting on hold for a good 20 minutes, they told me they were aware of my problem, and that it was caused by thier copy protection (SafeDisc 2), and told me that I would need to buy a new CD drive to play the game. Needless to say, I was pissed. I told 'em I'd be returning the game to the store, and downloading a copy of it off the internet, and hung up on 'em.

When are they going to learn, that they won't be able to stop the hardcore warez groups from releasing thier games a week before they show up in stores? I believe they should include basic protection, such as SafeDisc 1, and leave it at that. That'll stop Joe Newbie from coping the game, and giving it to all his friends, while at the same time, not screwing a small part of thier legitimate buyers..

We finally upgraded to satelite tv, which is where we're at now, and it's even worse.. If you wanna record something, you have to set the timer on the satelite, to change the channel.. That's nice and all, but 5 minutes before whatever you're recording starts, a big, ugly clock icon, flashes on the bottom left of the screen, with no way to turn it off..

The television guide they use, sucks. If you wanna see what's on two hours ahead of time, you get to wait through 3 minutes of downloading, while it updates the guide.. That's when it actually works.

Instead, they spend some more cash, which they've got loads of already, and have someone else develop it. That way, they're in the clear, because they didn't develop, and or encourage development of Linux on the Xbox.

I still doubt it's Microsoft behind all this, simply because they've never done anything like this before. It's either a compeditor of Microsoft's looking to hit 'em where it counts, or some rich ex-dot com owner, who pulled out just in time, and has too much money to spend.

Of course you could write software that'll let the Xbox browse the web, etc.. But the issue here is the Xbox Live Network, which is a closed, propritary system. Even if you got into Microsoft's servers, (No IIS jokes, please, hehe), somehow uploaded a virus, etc etc, it wouldn't run on normal, unmodded Xbox's.

And I highly doubt that .2% of Xbox owners that are smart enough to actually run custom software, and have the stones to open thier system and modify it, would do any damage if they all somehow got infected with an Xbox virus..

Most people who are knowledgable (Spelt wrong, shut up..) enough to do these kinds of modifications to thier system, are also smart enough to not download anything that pops up in front of them.

Also, unlike Windows, Xbox doesn't have an email program that runs attachments the second you view an email (Outlook comes to mind..), so there wouldn't be an easy means of transportation for a virus.
